Acer Aspire Launch at Mandarin Oriental Hotel

Yesterday night was one of the rare night i got to attend an event such as this, Acer Aspire Launch at Mandarin Oriental Hotel. A one hour session which i’ve expected turned out to be a 7 course meal dinner with performances and etc with the launch of the few newest laptops by Acer and Intel.

Before dinner was served, they actually showed some of the statistics of the market on which brands beats which brands. So wow, Acer is actually the top PC vendors in ASEAN! Okay.

Then there was this presentation showing the awesomeness of their onboard graphic card with the game Devil May Cry 4. Hmmm.

Dinner was served shortly after that where i had a big smile on my face. I was starving.

Amy Wang 王明丽 came out and sang a couple of songs followed by this…

mixing “show”. There were games throughout the night that involves the guests then, have no idea why i didn’t have the guts to volunteer myself up on stage and win the stuffs.

A boring Feng Shui talk and the lucky draw which had 3 lucky guest bringing back home Acer’s newest laptops marks the end of the whole event. Ok i’m bad at story telling i think, reading back what i wrote above makes myself yawn.

In short, the launch features 3 specific Acer laptop models, the 5740, 4740 and 4740G which had the Intel Core i5 and i3 Mobile CPU with Mobile Intel HM55 Express Chipset. Sets that were made for superior gaming, multitasking and entertainment experience.

To avoid causing further boredom to you, i shall not state down the specific specifications for the laptop models. You just need to know these :

Aspire 4740-332G32 RRP : RM 2,299
Aspire 4740G-432G50 RRP : RM 2,499
Aspire 5740G-524G50 RRP : RM 2,999

One last thing for you to know, if you’re born in the year of Ox, be very careful of Sex Scandal towards the end of the year, brought to you by the boring Feng Shui Sifu of the night. Stay away from any friends who are born in that year as well okay? *laughs*

So which one you want?  The model or the “model”?

*thanks to Melissa, WeiHoe for the invite and Aaron for the transportation. =)

Pranav Mistry on Sixth Sense, will we get it in near future?

THE WORLD OF MATRIX IS NEAR!!! xD

Some of you might have watched this already but hey its worth re-posting!!

One of the most interesting video i’ve seen i must say! Some technology which takes 8 years for this guy to actually come out with this, a project name “SixthSense“.

Please watch the whole video clip as it only takes like 13 minutes of your whole life!

If you’re really lazy or you’re such a busy person, you can fast forward the clip at :
6.25 minutes – Taking a picture with just hand gestures.
6.50 minutes – Dialing a number on your palm.
7.00 minutes – Interpret the objects that you’re holding.
7.40 minutes – Watching a related video clip on a newspaper that you’re reading
8.05 minutes – Checking the boarding time of a certain flight.
9.40 minutes – Playing car racing games using a piece of paper.

All done without the need of a physical hardware/device/gadget on hands!!

While we’re here sulking over the issues over Gods with our Information, Communications, and Culture Minister saying that Twitter & Facebook is bad influence, this dude in the video above have been presenting his ideas and such to the world just last year.

Of course, back to reality, for that to actually happen like how computers invade our lives decades ago resulted in Bill Gates & Microsoft dominance in the technology world, it really makes me wonder will it come true?

If yes, perhaps it will be the generation of our grandchildren that will get the privileges to enjoy such technologies.

Pranav Mistry is a Research Assistant and PhD candidate at the MIT Media Lab. You can know all about him and his involvements in various projects/researches here.

So yeah, who got 2 trackball mouse, lets do big business!

Youth Engagement Summit 2009

If you’ve been reading my blog here, you would have know that i attended this very summit on the 16th and 17th of November 2009. It was the Youth Engagement Summit 2009 that was held at Putrajaya International Convention Center.

A conference that runs for 2 days time.

With around 500 youths and other corporate figures attending this very event, it really shocked me with a knock on my head that i was there to listen to the various talks by influential individuals over the world.

Security was tight and the hall was wonderfully awesome. It’s not like everyday i get to be seated in such a hall with comfort and all.

I felt as though as i was attending a Christian youth conference with Pastor and other people sharing the word of God. The difference here is that the speakers don’t quote verses from the Bible that is.

On the talks itself and its content and such, i won’t really share it all from A-Z here as it would DEFINITELY bore you out pressing ALT+F4 leaving my blog then.

There were a lot of speakers there in the span of 2 days and i’ll just state out juist a few things that i find it interesting. Not necessarily inspiring or encouraging but yes interesting.

What shared in the picture above is pretty inspiring and this is not the first time i’ve encounter such quotes then. It was one of the hundreds of stories of impossibles then, one that was shared widely among the people out there.

Such quotes, such stories will only work and happen if the listener have the determination to pursue his/her dreams, going all the way leaving the negatives behind their backs reaching out then. It will surely take a long time and sacrifices have to be made then.

Quite a simple explanation but there goes a whole lot of knowledge and life experience in there.

Another thing that interests me are the numbers. The facts. How Twitter was build from nothing to how it was today in 10 years time. Yes 10 years since Biz Stone left one of his child(Xanga) behind coming out with a random idea with his mate. Of course, that is base on years of experiences with the internet and such and Twitter is not an accident.

Facebook on another hand is another amazing site along with Twitter. With just a platform for the people out there, there were groups of individuals, students that join the circle and made it big from there and the rest of it, is what we are seeing now. Amazing? Yes but along with it comes bigger challenges.

Stories of how Twitter and Facebook saves life, helped in events, disasters and etc have been shared. Some that we all know of as well as some as i have no idea of.

Numbers are one of the important piece of puzzle then.

The founder of Air Asia was really funny then. Sharing his stories in a funny way. He mentioned that he actually thought of sponsoring the RED CARD of EPL. So when everytime a red card was used on a player, there’ll be a tagline behind the card – “You’re suspended, Now go have a holiday with Air Asia”.

That was how he attracted attention of the crowd then.

Basically, most of the things shared by the speakers can actually be found through the internet. Not like i know every one of the stories and such, but i was actually expecting a bit more from the speakers, something different from what i can find online.

The most interesting parts are the Q&A session with the different speakers then where random questions were threw at them. Just like someone asked this “Are you single?” to Randi Zuckerberg, the Director of Market Development at Facebook. Of course, such questions are stupid, but it was pretty fun listening to the replies as well as seeing their reactions.

One really funny thing i remembered was a question was asked to an Ex-Minister of China, “Why did China Block Facebook?” The Ex-minister reacted in a funny manner giving the question mark to the crowd and at the end of the day, he stated that he have no idea what is Facebook.

then, in another question during the same session, a reply sound like this, “I am not on Facebook, but We didn’t block Facebook!” That was the reply from a Minister of India.

Generally, the whole event was good, held for a good cause and such. But, the food sucks, its like erm, Malaysia, Food Paradise!!! Duh. No food catering from Eden anymore people.

Ok i think i type too much. Should really stop here then. So yea, inspiring yes encouraging yes but not what i’ve expected then. At the end of the day, i have not much to complaint, it was all good.

Thomas, Zoe, Chris, Jeff, me, HsuJen.

A few of us bloggers were there.

Youth Engagement Summit 2009, Glad to be part of it.

E72 Nokia Social Messaging

Thanks to Nokia Malaysia, Text100 and David Lian, i attended this small gathering at Italiannies, Gardens just last Thursday 3 December 2009. It was about Nokia Social Messaging featuring one of the latest member of Nokia E-Series phones, the E72.

As usual, a warm welcome by the peeps from Nokia and Text100 followed by servings of good food and not to mention, there were good companies that night too. Its all good! =)

Soon, the Nokia Social Messaging session kicked off with a short briefing on E72 and its role in Social Messaging by Mr Glen of Nokia Malaysia.

Joshua Wong who won stuffs 3 days in a row showing the winning face LOL!

It was some brilliant idea that the session was followed by a game session on Snake and Ladders, no kidding, because of that, i had some of the facts on E72 clearly sticking onto my head for the next few days. If you have read my previous blog posts, you will already know about this then which was how the game ended. =)

Back to the main point, i think that the E72 is quite an awesome phone. Ask around and see what feedback you get from the E71 and i’m pretty sure most people will say it’s an awesome phone and here this E72 is the successor of the well known E71 phone.

I shall not bore you and talk about the specifications from A-Z, instead i’ll note down some difference compared to the E72’s mother, the E71.

The Qwerty keyboard buttons are more user friendly with a more curvy display.
-Equiped with a standard 3.5 mm audio jack where the E71 only have a 2.5mm audio jack.
-The camera behind is now 5.0MP compared to the 3.2MP on E71.
-More responsive compared to E71.
-The Optical Navi Key on the center of the phone is just perfect and it also function as a one touch autofocus key when it comes to using the 5.0MP Camera.

Oh and on the phone itself, i find the function of taking a panorama picture pretty interesting!

Of course, the main selling point of the phone for users is to socialize around, the phone. Accessing Facebook, Msn Messenger, Yahoo Messenger and Gtalk as easy as 1, 2, 3 and it’s very user friendly. Slightly better than E71 there.

Oh i haven talk about how you can play around with multiple email accounts! But i guess you all already know about it then with the fame of E71. =D

With Nigel and Kel Li

So yea, these above are the few points i find it attractive to me, other than that, the phone is pretty similar to E71 in many ways.

Perhaps you would want to find more about it here. The Nokia E72 is currently available for RM1670 but of course you could possibly find it slightly cheaper here.

December is officially a good month for me!! =)
*thanks to Nigel xD

Dessert Anyone? =X

1Internet, Happy 40th Birthday!

It was my mom who introduced me to this very best friend of mine. I remembered it was back in 1998 that i created my first email and surfing on this “thing” call Netscape Navigator getting knowing more about this friend, The Internet. Hearing the 56k modem dialing its way for me to be in touch with this friend was what i did from time to time when my mom wasn’t in front of the computer. Then The Internet introduced me to more friends through mediums like “MIRC” “ICQ” and etc where Internet even provided me some personal space of mine on some “sites” such as Geocities and Homestead. So yea i pretty take “him” as my best friend since then and never looked back.

Thinking back about it, i had quite an adventure being introduced to alot of new stuffs “seeing” alot of things as well Sshhhh. Napster was there as my sole music provider where Google haven even existed. I had too much time interacting with the Internet till bills went up to RM200-rm300 per month if i’m not mistaken and Mom addded some password protection on her computer resulted me spending more hours in Cyber Cafes compared to my Home.

Today, i couldn’t really live without this friend. I couldn’t have imagine that i would rely on the Internet so much till this very day, it was altogether an amazing trip thus far and now i couldn’t imagine what would happen in like 10, 20, 30 years time to come where i just hope that Internet will still be my best friend by then.

Perhaps Shinra will emerged and take over the world or something like that. Of course i would put my faith in our Prime Minister Mr Razak in his 1Malaysia concept. I hope that in the coming years, there’ll be 1Internet, 1Broadband, 1World which is basicly 1Everything then from there 1Everyone will be able to make Michael Jackson’s dream come true.

1HealTheWorld.
