After last weekend which made me pretty speechless, somehow i miss Tiffanie more and started going through some of her pictures on my computer only to find out i didn’t blog about this lunch session when i was in Singapore back in March. =X

We went to The Queen And Mangosteen at Vivocity, Singapore. A pretty pleasant and comfy place.

It was her birthday actually and i called Steph and Mike out for a simple lunch

Tiffanie and Steph

Prolly something too simple for a birthday lunch but i’m not THAT rich that i could splash loads of money with the currency being converted SGD so… Yea… =(

Anyways, there’s this 3 course meal for SGD38 and if you top up another SGD7, you get a half pint of their Archipelago beers.

So Me, Mike and Steph ordered the the set where both me and Mike added the SGD7 for the beers. Tiffanie

Salmon Salad – 3/5

Mushroom Soup – 2.5/5

To be frank, for such a place that had me having good impression when i first step in, the starters above disappoints me where it’s just normal. Nothing to wow about.

Roasted Angus Rib-eye of Beef – 4/5

Good thing that when the main course came, i did enjoyed it. The rib-eye was medium cooked and it was soft & easy to bite, with the texture of beef to my liking, the plate was served in just the right portion.

Roasted Spring Chicken – 3/5

On the other hand, Mike’s Roasted Chicken seems to be quite a disappointment for him. It was too small a portion for a lunch meal and for someone who is bigger in size than me, i’m pretty sure he didn’t get enough that meal. However, according to Mike, the chicken was quite okay.

Roasted Rack of Lamb with Rosemary Potatoes, Grilled Asparagus and Mint Yoghurt (SGD29) – 3/5

Last but not least, the Lamb Rack that Tiffanie ordered was pretty filling and it was well prepared. I only had a few bites but i think it was delicious and most importantly, she liked it pretty much, so i assume that this dish is worth ordering!

The 3 Course Meal comes with this sinful dessert above, do i need to describe more? =D

Alright so, it was quite a good lunch session actually and i really owe both Mike and Steph a lot as for some unknown reasons, there was a big wide smile hanging on Tiffanie’s face that afternoon after the lunch.

Perhaps it’s because that Mike & Steph offered to pay the bill but i still think that there’s something that made Tiffanie happier than usual. =D

2 weeks back, i went to Singapore to celebrate her birthday. =)

but being a useless bf myself and not having a complete plan that is, i actually panicked and was scratching my head thinking of what to do, where to bring and such. Headache much.

Ended up at Paragon, went to this place Soup Restaurant which the gf decided so then. Just because she went to another branch and said that the food was delicious so we went to this place for dinner.

Okay so it was quite a nice and comfy place, but hey for a birthday for someone special i somehow felt bad about this then. Needing to stand in a line to wait to be brought into the place for dinner double that feeling there and then.

The Food hmmm.

Hand Chopped Minced Pork Meat with Salty Egg – 2/5

Looks nice on the menu with simple straight forward description but when it came and i had my first try on it i was a bit tad disappointed. The pork weren’t really well cooked and it was salty, a bit too salty that is.

Not a good start huh?

Kangkung Sambal Belacan – 3/5

Ordering this pretty ordinary dish that is widely available back in Malaysia makes me comparing it straight away when it came. To my surprise, it was at least above average. The Sambal Belacan wasn’t too spicy but overall the dish is a bit too oily.

Claypot Tofu -4/5

This is one awesome dish which makes me nom nom nom all the way. Of course, when it came i was a bit surprise because from my knowledge, claypot tofu normally consists of a few types of vegetables along with the Tofu itself. But this alone its just the Tofu.

The specially made sauce which was added on the Tofu made the dish awesomely delicious but if you’re pretty particular about oily food, then you might not want to order this then.

Ling Zhi Lean Pork Soup – 3/5

This soup is pretty fine to me. Just a bit too sweet and the pork meat are not edible (Too Hard to Chew).

Soup of the Day – Chicken soup with Corn – 3/5

This soup is just normal. There’s corn and there’s chicken and it taste just right. Ok i’m pretty lazy at describing about it already then.

For all you know, at this time of me typing out all this, i’m already having this very guilt in me for not having a perfect birthday dinner plan for the gf which i was hoping to have for her. Furthermore, the food served at this very place doesn’t have any wow points to be told as well.

I’m such a lousy guy right?

but i did enjoyed my time being with her then. =X

It was the last weekend of November 2009 that i went to this place having my lunch thanks to the girlfriend who brought me there. =)

Located along Maxwell Road where Chinatown Singapore is just aroudn the corner. This food centre appears to be serving the public in the area for quite a long time already and thanks to Chinatown, there were customers from other parts of the world finding their meals there when i was having mine as well.

Upon reaching, i was shocked that there weren’t any space there, walking a few steps further had me seeing 2 queues to 2 different stalls. One a porridge stall and another one a fish meat noodles/porridge stall. The food that my girlfriend wanted me to try was the later one.

There were a few choices to choose from, all fish related one of course!

Sliced Fish Soup, Sliced Fish Bee Hoon, Fish Meat Bee Hoon, Fish Head Bee Hoon. I guess i don’t have to explain much on that right? It’s pretty straight forward.

As for us, we had Sliced Fish Bee Hoon and Fish Meat Bee Hoon(according to the picture above).

Sliced Fish Bee Hoon (with slices of fish cooked with the soup base)

To my delight, it was much better than what i’ve expect, pretty satisfying! The whole bowl of Bee Hoon was pretty big in portion where they provided quite a lot of fish meat i must say with a fair serving of vegetables.

The bee hoon is good as well, soft and smooth to the mouth. The milk added to the soup was just nice with the slices of ginger as well. Overall, the taste wasn’t THAT strong compared to the ones i had back in Malaysia but the combination of all the different ingredients made it a pretty decent meal, one of the best meal i had in Singapore i must say.

Fish Meat Bee Hoon (with Fried Fish Meat)

Well of course, with that being said, i must admit i didn’t really have the time to explore and try other food there then with just the handful of times i was in Singapore. Perhaps some of you Singaporean bloggers out there would like to bring me to more food places in the future?

Note, the 2 bowls above were slightly different where one of it had the Fried Fish Meat where the other one come with the slices of fish cooked with the soup base itself. Personally, i prefer the fried fish more. =D

The pricing? You can refer above. I think it is pretty worth it. Of course, for Malaysians like me, don’t ever convert the currency! xD

Talking about Singapore, i must say that i know not much about the place. Going there for just less than 5 times where most of it happened when i’m still very small, the only thing i know is Singapore used to be part of Malaysia that’s all.

The last time i went to Singapore was just 2 months ago where i walked to quite a lot of places, not knowing what’s really special in each different spots, i told myself that i would come back again and explore more.

Though Singapore isn’t quite a big country, i couldn’t possibly go to every tourism attractions and fully enjoy and feel the atmosphere at the various places in just one day, but one thing i must say that the public transport over there was awesome and that alone save quite a lot of traveling time for me within the city.

Being a KL boy since ages ago, i would say that even if you have 10 days to spend in KL, you still cant fully explore the various places that are interesting, enjoying the good food and all.

So if you ask me what would i do and where would i go the next time i head to Singapore for another one day trip, i would scratch my head having headache on where to head to and such because, they have quite a lot of nice place to go to as well.

One of them i must say is Bugis Street. Orchard Road is for the ones with more penny and for a poor dude like me, Bugis Street is an ideal place for me. I’ve been to this place 2 months ago and yet i still feel like going there again because i didn’t really pay attention on every stalls there, of course, i know girls would be the gender who love going to this place more and what am i going to do there? Find stuffs for people la of course, if you go travel and you don’t get stuffs for your close friends and family then you’ll get into deep trouble! *laughs*

Esplanade is another place i feel like going. Being Singapore’s performing arts venue that features local and international performances, this is one of the place i must go, to catch an act/performance if there’s one going on that time, further more the exterior of the building reminds me of home.

The Ferris Wheel will be on my list as well, to enjoy the scene of the city from top above and of course, heading there with someone important just enjoying the time being with her is something i’m looking forward to. That’s if she’s with me when i make a trip down to Singapore!

I would say that in the day, other than going to the places mention above, i would explore the various hawker stalls around in the city in an attempt to find good food here and there. A search on the internet shows a list of hawker stalls that sells food that are mainly available in Malaysia itself, i would love trying the difference between the same dish in 2 different countries. That would be awesome!

In the night itself, i would love to be at the Merlion where its just beside the Singapore River. The night scenes over there look fabulously beautiful, and so i think that the atmosphere there would be great as well. Knowing that there would be live band performances there, i would love to just sit down and enjoy the show, just relaxing and all!

If the above plan doesn’t work, then i would most probably head to the Night Safari of Singapore. Having heard about the places numerous times, i thought that giving it a try would be a good idea, seeing the nightlife there in the safari and enjoying being close in touch in mother nature.

Last but not least, Clarke Quay!! One of the popular night spot in Singapore, hanging out there before i could officially call it off a day would be one of the things on list.

Seriously, its really quite impossible to just spend one day alone going to a lot of places enjoying myself in Singapore. Especially in the night, there are quite a few interesting places to head to and i would prefer to move at a slower pace during the night…

So yea, though its just a few places mentioned above, spending more time in a particular place is what i would be looking forward to a one day trip from am to pm.

Too much place to go, too little time!! What say you?

The start of last weekend was some kinda disaster for me where i received a few bad news just last Thursday and the whole thing kinda got to me. With that i made a last minute decision to head down all the way south to Singapore.

and i didn’t even know that its around Singapore‘s National Day!! Awesome!! Oh and i went down to Singapore alone by myself. xD

It was an insane trip i must say, with the awesome public transportation service available there, i went to a couple of places, with my day spent on walking and walking and walking only. Not shopping or anything else but just walking.

I was told that most Singaporeans is not in town during the day after Singapore‘s National Day and they would go to Malaysia to shop. True enough, i have 2 friends who’s in Singapore being in Malaysia when i was in Singapore.

Very much impress with the public transportation service over there, i didn’t spend much time waiting and instead had more time to observe the places over there.

Most of the streets were pretty quiet with not much vehicles on the road and i had a great time walking relaxing myself putting almost everything behind my back for a moment. Getting away from reality that is.

A big thanks to my girl who’s currently in Singapore, it was because of her i felt much more better after going through all the shitty stuffs back in Malaysia. Of course, if it wasn’t because of her, i wouldn’t know where and how to go to here and there in Singapore. Laughs.

Going to places like Tanjong Pagar, Raffles Place, Orchard, Bugis, City Hall, Espanade, Suntec City, Outram park, Harbour Front, Vivocity, Buona Vista and etc changing trains 8 times and bus for 4 times. It was one heck of a trip.

The dinner, and the last bus we took, that was the last thing for us and at the end of the day, i really couldn’t ask for more.

Though there’s still a very long road to walk, with lots of unwillingness and now that i’m already missing her a lot already, i really hope that every single thing would be fine at the end of the day.

I wish that i am still spending time with her just right beside me at this moment.

Have you watch the video of the first bloggers flash mob in Singapore organized by Nuffnang Spore? If not watch it here. =X

Seriously speaking, i was pretty disappointed watching it. It was DUH. Epic Failure. Nuffnang Spore did a great job by getting the amount of bloggers to attend it, the problem is….

A total amount of what? 200 Bloggers attending it and there’s only 10 pillow warriors/silent dancers. Okay maybe there’re 15 of them and not 10. Gosh. EPIC FAILURE!!

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU SINGAPOREAN BLOGGERS!!!

THIS VIDEO BELOW IS WHAT I CALL A PILLOW FIGHT!!

and THIS VIDEO BELOW IS WHAT I CALL A FLASH MOB!!!

Both HAPPENED IN MALAYSIA ROARR!!!

Yeh though not organized by Nuffnang Malaysia but its based on the same single objective.

A flash mob is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual action for a brief time, then quickly disperse.

Alright maybe Malaysia failed in that also because Malaysians don’t disperse after the UNUSUAL ACT but at least we achieved 80% of the objective where many people participated in it which makes the whole thing look like its HAPPENING. NOT SAD.

and what happen in Singapore last Saturday was really SAD.

I actually asked my friends to join me in the KL Freeze last year and my friends were like errr, wan meh, paiseh lah, shy la and take it as such a dumb act making yourself a public joke. and i guess that’s what many of you Sporean bloggers thought as well.

But if MANY people participated in it, then the whole thing won’t be stupid, it will be HAPPENING and it will be spread around from words of mouth and you’ll be proud that you actually participated in it!!

Sorry if i’ve offended any of you Singaporean bloggers but seriously, if you would want to participate in a flash mob, then do it and BE IN IT.

Most of us bloggers are still in the “YOUTH/YOUNG” category and if you don’t participate in all these fun events and BE IN IT yourself at this age being crazy and all, then when will you do so? The world is getting crazier each day and everyone is full of stress, so by participating in such events once in a while won’t lower down your “Almighty” status okay?

Here is a short conversation between me and some anonymous blogger

anonymous blogger :
last year’s vpost party
joshuaongys :
yea
i heard about the vpost party hahaha
anonymous blogger :
so many great prizes for them to win
no1 wants to play
all diam diam sit
and watch only
joshuaongys :
DAMN SAD ALSO
anonymous blogger :
all malaysian bloggers play
*if i say that the blogger above is a sporean blogger what say you?

So please la Sporean bloggers, we’re young and when we’re young we have fun and do crazy things. TOGETHER with other people. Okay?

GOOD JOB to those pillow warriors/silent dancers, too bad its just the few of you peeps there, but still, GJ!

Okay i think i’ve just offended the whole group of Singaporean bloggers with this post. Gah.
*if you’re really really angry then just ignore what i say okay? because i’m just nobody, just one unimportant being in this world. =)
