Social Session at Craft Brews Brewhouse & Restaurant, Mutiara Damansara Petaling Jaya

Craft Brews, one of the latest restaurant in town that is unique all because they have already step into the online social media scene way before the venue was officially launch!

Following people on Twitter and having a Facebook account bringing out the curious cat was one smart approach i must say as most F&B outlets around don’t even give a damn about online social media and the power of internet marketing/advertising.

Anyways, we had a small gathering session just last Friday night where bloggers and tweeples were invited to fellowship and perhaps get to know each other over beers and food!

One of which i’ve not been to for quite some time already. The place was pretty warm and cosy, one of the type of venues which i would definitely ask some close friends to chill around, perhaps some private sessions.

Just look at the colors of the beers available at Craft Brews!

These beers were being said to be unfiltered where the beer menu features top-notch craft beers which are unique and rare. Specially catered for those beer tasters who seeks for quality in beer drinking. Quite sophisticated eh?

The food served that night was pretty awesome and its definitely not good starting my 2010 that have me going down the FATTER way, but the ribs played quite a big role tempting me as i fell for it. I thought that the eggplant was good as well!

Anyways Craft Brews served food from Ribs to Lamb Shank to the common Chicken plates. Pastas, burgers and sandwiches were included in their menus as well.

Had a lecture on beers with some brief history and ways to beer tasting and such. Pretty clueless from the start till the end and couldn’t help to noticed some other wandering souls there as well. Aha!

There were some game session after that giving out vouchers and colorful bottles which i didn’t get to play because i’m bad at differentiating the different kinds of beer. =(

Anyways, meet the best beer of Craft Brews, the Monster Green Lager. You have to try it yourself to find out why Craft Brews claimed that as their best beer. Which is available all year round!

Well if you’re around the area then do give this place a tr, with good companies i’m sure you’ll enjoy it pretty much!

and oh don’t forget the colorful beers!!

Rosso Restaurant & Bar @ Manchester, United Kingdom

11 December 2009. Part of the winning trip to Manchester.

My second night there, went to this Italian Restaurant, Rosso Restaurant & Bar with Ren, Coco, and Jimmy.

The owner of this place is one of the richest soccer defender in the world, playing for Manchester United and yes he is none other than Rio Ferdinand. Rosso, a restaurant and bar is just one of Rio’s many ventures along the years and this place just started serving the public a few months ago.

Located in one of the oldest buildings in Manchester, this place can serve up to 150 people max. and they even have a bar that lets people chill around for social meets and etc.

The interior was pretty awesome and i’m pretty sure it’s one of the best restaurant around in Manchester(though i have not fully go to every 1 of them yet =X) as the atmosphere was great. Even the toilet was smartly located in some secret location!

Anyways, upon reaching the place, our host for that night Gordan told us that we could order anything as Manchester United/Smirnoff will take care of the bill, we were pretty excited then that we could try any food on the menu!!

The problem is, i have no idea what was written on the menu, i mean the food title, it was all in Italian. Yes i know a few language but Italian is not in the list, thanks for the description given there as well as some recommendation by the guy serving us, we made our orders, in like 30 minutes time!

Had my Mojito. <3

I’m pretty noob in eating such good food and so my explanation will be quite straight forward with stupid description okay? Straight to the food!

Starters.

Insalata Di Anatra Al Miele ( £ 6.75) – 4.5/5
Strips of Confit of Duck with Mixed Salad Leaves, Honey & Pickled Ginger Dressing with Toasted Sesame Seeds

The night started with a blast with this. The Duck Confit was delicious and when i had it with the mixed salad leaves with the dressing mentioned, it was like i was in heaven already then. Wonder how it taste like then in Italian restaurants here in Malaysia.

Carpaccio Di Manzo (£7.95) – 4/5
Thinly sliced prime, Raw Beef (Hung for 28 Days) dressed with organic rocket, aged parmesan shavings and lemon olive oil.

This on the other hand was wonderful! The cheese along with the extremely sliced primed raw beef with the leaves is just, i really can’t believe i was in Manchester then, having such food that i wouldn’t really dare to order back in Malaysia then.

and it’s only the starters!

Main. Basically we ordered 4 main course meals and shared among ourselves and this is the first one.

Vitello Milanese (£13.95) – 3.5/5
Traditional Veal Escalope Coated in Breadcrumbs, Served with Spaghetti Napoletana

No offense to those who love veal, but this “boneless meat of a young calf” wasn’t really what i loved throughout the night but the Spaghetti was just right as how i like it, the taste i meant. I don’t know is it because of the starters or the other food that i had in my mouth that made the taste go a bit different, but i assume that it is an awesome dish because the others liked it. I think i will like it if it’s not coated in breadcrumbs, just the Veal Escalope Yums!

Pizza Quattro Stagioni (£8.50) – 3/5
Tomato, Mozzarella, Artichoke Hearts, Peppers, Ham & Mushrooms.

This one pizza was served with 4 different styles on each quarter. I like the ones with Ham & Mushrooms as well as the Mozzarella. It was the kind of pizza i loved where the bread was not thick as i hate pizzas with thick bread that makes it so Yuck. Oh and the crust were crispy!!

Stinco D’Agnello (£13.50) – 4.5/5
Pot Roast Lamb Shank Slowly Cooked in Amarone Wine with Root Vegetables on a Bed of Mashed Potato with Cheese & Topped with Parsnip Crisps.

LAMB SHANK! MY <3! I loved this one dish so much that i ate most from it. The lamb shank were slowly cooked till perfection and i suppose the wine did the job to bring out the taste, then again the mashed potato was sinfully delicious! I already miss this one then.

Risotto Allo Scoglio (£12.15) – 4/5
Carnaroli Rice, Fresh Black Mussels, Monk Fish & Scottish Langoustine Cooked Gently in Langoustine Stock.

Another new dish i haven try before. Was a bit excited when i saw it coming being served on the table and i quickly get some of it on my plate and loved it instantly! Coco and Jimmy weren’t really a fan of this and i came to the rescue getting all the Mussels i sighted along with the deliciously cooked Carnaroli Rice! Best!

Had some dessert wine to mark the perfect meal of the night! All thanks to the awesome VIP hospitality by Manchester United/Smirnoff that we were able to order anything that we like then with the bill taken care of, it was some kinda experience that don’t often come my way. At least for me it is and i was really happy at the end of the night!

Ren, Me, Coco and Jimmy

The place was fully packed with the people in Manchester. Good company, great atmosphere, beautiful interior decorations, wonderful hospitality and awesome food! Will definitely visit this place again if i have the chance to go to Manchester again!

Restaurant Chardin Sea View Seafood Village @ Port Dickson

It was like a month ago that i went to this place for dinner with a few close friends while we were at Port Dickson for a break over that weekend.

Restoran Chardin Sea View Sea Food Village at Port Dickson.

We were pretty clueless that time and drove around for like approx. 10 minutes and just decided to dine at this very place when we passed by the restaurant.

We were hungry and it seems like a decent place to us with lots of customers there then.

Did the ordering within 5 minutes and started taking pictures hmm.

The girls in the picture above are Melissa, WeiRu, Mun and May. Chee Hwa refuse to take a picture with me and Andy in the second picture because he thinks he’s too handsome for us.

So right, straight to the point. The food!

Seafood Taufu (Fried Taufu with Seafood Toppings) 3/5

I love this dish just mainly because i love both Taufu & Seafood!! Frankly speaking if you ask me how it taste like, it was rather plain where the taste wasn’t fully brought out when it was cooked. There were prawns and eggs along with the Taufu.

Fried Prawn Paste in Butter Style 4/5

This on the other hand was quite tasty the prawn paste were well fried and i like it especially because it was fried with these curry leaves that made the whole dish smells and taste much nicer. Then again, i like it wet style where it wasn’t very very dry where some restaurants will serve.

Steam Sek Pan Fish 3/5

Alright for a seafood restaurant like this, i was actually expecting for the fish to be a bit more fresh but to me it doesn’t seem so, anyways, it was pretty edible of course and it was just as normal as any other steam Sek Pan fish out there. Not much difference.

Fried Kangkung with Belacan 4/5

Quite a well known Kangkung dish in Malaysia i must say. With just Belacan and Garli, this very dish  is among one of the favourite dish among Malaysians. A simple dish that is not that simple to prepare where the Belacan must be prepared well and i think that this one i had in Port Dickson was not bad at all!

Siong Tong Lala (Clams) 3.5/5

One of the more common way of cooking clams and the freshness of the Lala was still okay in my opinion. The ginger slices made the “soup” tasty and i was enjoying the soup more than the clams if you ask me. There were a few other hungry friends that time so i didn’t manage to get alot of these then Haha.

Black Pepper Deer Meat 2.5/5

Last but not least, we had this. Quite a spicy dish i must say that they had too much black pepper on it. I had just a few piece then i was already drinking 2 cups of water down my stomach. Not like we requested it to be extra spicy then. I believe this one would be a fantastic dish if not because of its over spiciness. Does such word exist? Lol

So that’s about it. Overall the place was pretty good, nice environment and atmosphere but the food was not up to standard i think. I know that Port Dickson isn’t that much of a tourist attraction anymore where they might get lesser customers out from the town but i think that the standard should be there then.

However, the whole trip down to Port Dickson was awesome! Read about it here. =D

Oh and here’s the price for the food.

Reasonable? Hmm

Restoran Yong Tou Foo Chan Chan, Manjalara Kepong

This was a way backdated post. It was on the 7th of September 2009 that i went to this Restoran Yong Tou Foo Chan Chan located in Manjalara, Kepong with my mom, sister and girlfriend for dinner.

Totally no clue of the existence of this very shop though i stay around the area for years, it was my mom who suggested this place giving thumbs up for the food over here.

With half the place occupied at that time which is 9PM, i would say that this is one place that people love going. Yes i always have late dinner.

Mom quickly placed her orders with us waiting hungrily. Soon enough the food came, pretty fast i must say!

Fried Wan Tan/Dumplings and Brinjal 4/5

Ladyfinger 3.5/5

Tau Foo 4/5

Its been quite some time since i had Yong Tou Foo already and i was loving it too bits getting the food into my mouth as soon as it was served. The fried dumplings are one of my favourites while the brinjals, lady finger and tau foo were pretty delicious as well, not too salty nor tasteless as well. It was decently good. Not to mention that the soup was good as well, you know some of the soup served with the Yong Tou Foo is just so so only, almost tasteless and so but this one was very delicious.

Yau Mak Choy – 4/5

One of my favourite vegetable dish. Haha. What can i say more, it was just nice, not too oily that is!

Vinegar Pork Leg/Chu Kiok Chou 4/5

This one is extremely awesome, very sour to my liking and the meat was well cooked and i had a few good bites on the soft and tender meat. Well my girlfriend said her mom cooked much sour ones, would like to try it one day.

Hakka Meat 4.5/5

One of the famous dish(Jiu Pai Choi) of this place, this very dish is a bit starchy, some would not like it but for me i love it to bits, the meat were quite soft as well and its delicious, quite an authentic Hakka dish i must say!

Wine Chicken 5/5

Haven take this in ages, i was looking for it and when it was served i quickly had a spoon of the soup which was quite thick filled with the scent of wine. Though my mom said it was a bit too salty i loved this very dish and drank quite a lot of the soup. The meat were deliciously cooked with the ingredients and such. Must try dish!

Assam Kampung Fish 3/5

Last but not least we had this one dish above. It was just okay, above average but not too awesome. The required ingredients that gives the taste were there just that its not enough. Well the other dishes compensated for that!

Yes i know it was a bit too much for 4 person but hey we had quite an awesome dinner and that alone doesn’t happen every single day so i don’t mind! Haha, it was very very satisfying i must say, those who are staying around the area must go and try it!

So here’s the bill that came and for that amount of dishes we had plus i think that the food were quite awesome, i must say that its definitely worth it paying RM78.30 for this dinner.

VERY very satisfying!

W.A.W Restaurant 黄亚华小食店 @ Jalan Alor

Earlier this month, the girlfriend is back in Malaysia and stayed in KL for a few days before heading back to her hometown.

and so, I took the opportunity to take her out all the way to Jalan Alor to have some good food. Some food that she really miss having.

We headed to this place call W.A.W Restaurant. One of the many eating place at Jalan Alor that was at the end of the street, far away from the more happening food stalls at the start of the street.

This very place is around the area for quite some time already and if you notice, there were pictures on the wall showing that famous celebrities have been to this very place to hunt for good food as well.

Anyways, we ordered the food below. Enjoy!

Kam Heong Lala (Clams) 4/5
RM8

I must say that the portion is quite small but it tasted real good. Not too watery and not too dry as well, just as how i like it, the clams were pretty well cooked as well. and unlike a lot of food place out there that serves clams that’s not washed thoroughly, this one dish was well prepared.

Asam Fish 5/5
RM29

I love this to bits!! I could smell this one coming when they brought it in from the entrance to our table, and to my amaze, it tasted as nice as how it smells. Don’t laugh okay, sometimes what you smell differs a lot when you have the first bite!

The fish was steamed to perfection. The meat was pretty juicy with the Asam gravy and all, tender and soft as well. I even mix the gravy with my rice, pretty yummy!

Kangkung Belacan 4/5
RM9

As simple as it seems, this is one of my very favourite vegetable dishes that would absolutely make my day. This one specifically didn’t fail to make my day!!

Chicken Wings 4/5
RM4.40

Last but not least, we had chicken wings. Quite a famous one and its beyond my expectation. The chicken wings served at this very place were very juicy, if not because i’m full at the time i have this, i would have order more!

At the end of the day, the bill came up to around RM60. A price that might be a bit higher than expectation but heck, it was an awesome dinner as i enjoyed it very much. I must say that the place still serve good food all this while.

Not like some famous eating place having some downgraded food after gaining fame and all. They kept and maintained their standards. Good job to them!

Restoran Logenhaus, Taipan, Subang Jaya

It was more than a month ago that i visited this place for lunch.

With my beloved of course. We were in Taipan to settle some stuffs and so we went around hunting for food around the place after we finished our business.

and i was actually attracted to the place when i saw this…

Set-Lunch Local & Western from RM7.99. O.O

Parked nearby and headed in to the place and to my amazed, it is quite a nice, cozy and comfortable place. Nice to have a peaceful meal enjoying your time!

Had a look on their set lunch menu and again i was cheated by the promotion they placed out of the place. Lolx. From RM7.99 onwards la but only one choice and its Chicken and Egg Salad. T_T.

Well, never mind, because we liked the place so we proceed with our orders.

Spaghetti Bolognese for the beloved. Quite normal though just like every other same dish that you can get at various places. So i will say that its fine. Average rating for that.

Grilled Lamb Chop with Mushroom Sauce for me. I didn’t request on how many percent i would like them to cook. and so the meat turn out to be a bit hard to chew though, but it was still all good for me. I loved the potato wedges though. Haha weird. An average rating for that as well. =)

We had Nachos as well and this one i think that its pretty good. I like it. How is it? Crispy? Lolx.

Anyways, both our sets includes one soup of the day and one cup of tea, though i felt a bit cheated by the promotion, i enjoyed having my meal at this place.

Would like to try this though if i ever visit this place again.

What i have to say about this place? Basically the food is just normal but the environment, the place is comfortable to be in. Give it a try perhaps?
