Astro B.yond Bloggers Night at Desa Sri Hartamas
Jan 14th

Was at Desa Sri Hartamas earlier tonight attending my very first bloggers event of 2010. An amount of 150+ bloggers were there to witness the awesomeness of what Astro have to offer to the public in Malaysia.

This new package with the name Astro B.yond emphasize on high definition viewing pleasure experience for the public with a limited of just 5 channels if i’m not mistaken where one of it is the Sports channel!
That means that you can really see whether a player is offside as well as a goal is invalid or valid in a soccer game immediately, details of a scene will be captured and displayed on the screen you watch. Some whole new unique experience where you can FEEL it.

Apart from the presentation we get to see in high definition on the spot, there were performance as well as this mystery murder case to solve where one blogger walks away with the B.yond experience for free in the next 1 year.

Teams were formed to solve the puzzle where the winning team who found out the killer will need to fight between themselves to win the ultimate B.yond experience home.
The team who won was : Gareth, Horng, KY, Terence and Eric.

At the end of the night, this fellow Manchester United supporter Mr Eric Yong who spams a lot on twitter managed to kill beat his 4 team members and won himself a 32” LG High Definition TV, Astro B.yond box, new remote control and new outdoor dish along with free subscription to Astro B.yond channels.

All i could say is Glory Glory Man United! Though its really unrelated but nah Haha. Congrats!

Vivien

Pinky

Anuar
Was glad to see Vivien AGAIN and Pinky there at the event. Of course Anuar, Nice Meeting You as well!

Apart from that, Felicia Zoe was there as well along with Nigel Tee!
Quite a good night for me with free flow of drinks and delicious food being served! One thing though, i would love to have the Astro B.yond with me back home where i can enjoy soccer matches to the fullest at the comfort of my own sweet home.

High Definition wor, who don’t want it? =D
*you can start stalking FeliciaZoe here.

Well Done
Jan 10th
Was at 1Utama for Digi Internet Pimp My Day Challenge. Almost the whole day. Running like mad around 1 Utama having me not doing any exercises for like the past 5 months prove to be quite an insane task for me.

However it was the whole team that really rocked my day where i was pretty satisfied with our accomplishments, finishing all the challenges given and managed to do the blog post with all the picture resizing and video editing in time.

Head home with 2 new items made half my day i must say, but of course i’m too tired to have a big smile on my face. I blame it all at the Celebrity Fitness task, gah i need to exercise more.
At the end of the day, i just want to say, WELL DONE!!!
Nigel, Kel Li and Hsu Jen, ROAR ROAR ROAR!!!
*So which team is the grand prize winner? To be announce. They extended the time of announcing it because… You’ll know soon! Haha
My Story behind Nuffnang Awards
Oct 25th
Proof that girls are more 38 than guys. There were more inquiries from girls compared to guys about this blog post posted 2 days ago.
Well i might offend the girls with that statement above but heck i’ve already offended some certain sensitive people with the blog post mentioned above and i will further offend these same people with this blog post here. So yea, fry it!
The story?
I’m not gonna talk about all these in details nor i will mention the names of the individuals, anyhow this post will still be quite long so read only if you’re interested Thank You.
Since the start of this whole Nuffnang Awards when they announced it officially on all the Nuffnang sites, there were 3 groups of bloggers.
Group 1 – The minority ones who knew what is going on behind the scenes and don’t really care about this.
Group 2 – The majority ones who are unaware of what is going and is totally excited about this event.
Group 3 – The majority ones who are unaware of what is going and don’t really care about this.
Alright then, as for me, getting a fully sponsored trip down to Singapore attending an event as big as this sounds nice to me of course, but seeing the requirements to get the invites which is making 2 blog posts where i need to do quite a lot of things here and there plus knowing how the people work in sending out invites to “bloggers who are qualified” had me quitting the intention of doing the posts.
A few days later, a call from Nuffnang “offering” me passes FOR 2 to the “prestigious” event down in Singapore where passes would be allocated automatically for me once i’ve done and submitted the 2 blog posts. Then i thought it was okay since i’ll get the invites once i’ve completed the blog posts.
Did the posts and submitted them where i got a confirmation mail from them saying i’ve gotten the passes had me applying leave and arranging stuffs. Getting all ready for it then.
One fine day, approx. 1 week before the event, a mail was sent out to get the details of the guests where i was out for lunch and the mails went on like this.

I mentioned that my guest is in Singapore and notified them that transportation is not needed.

Well i didn’t really read the email on the 2nd picture displayed above properly where they were stating that no TRANSPORTATION & ACCOMMODATION will be provided for my guest which is the only mistake i made.
In fact that’s actually their mistake and not mine. Originally, both transportation and accommodation should be provided for my guest because that was what they promised me when they called me in the start.
Continue on the story, just one day before the event, they called me up again and double confirm with me that no transportation & accommodation will be provided for my guest and i was assigned to sleep with another blogger.
With me not knowing about this because i didn’t pay attention in the mail above, i was pretty furious but hang on on my temper and questioned back why is that so.
and the whole thing was furthered to this very conversation.
Joshua Ong says:
There?
Person A says:
yes
Joshua Ong says:
is it impossible for me to have a room for me n my guest already. hmmm
Person A says:
yes
Joshua Ong says:
anthr ques
Joshua Ong says:
why is dat so dat at first u all say i could have a guest with me then
Joshua Ong says:
whether my guest is in spore
Joshua Ong says:
or in msia
Joshua Ong says:
i should have a room for myself and my guest rite
Joshua Ong says:
hmm
Person A says:
when we extend the invitation to malaysian bloggers, we assume that the malaysian blogger will be bringing a malaysian guest
Person A says:
which is what the sponsor wld be glad to have and sponsor the other half of the room
Person A says:
however, if the guest is a singaporean, the sponsor sees not much sense
Person A says:
to provide the acco for a singaporean who’s already staying in sg
Person A says:
which is logical from their view
Joshua Ong says:
my guest is a msian and not a sporean and from start you all did not mention about that
Joshua Ong says:
its logical from their view i know
Joshua Ong says:
but its not logical from our view as we know if we get we can bring one guest and that’s the only thing we know hmmm
Person A says :
your guest is a msian?
Joshua Ong says:
yes
Person A says:
aiya
Person A says:
then u shldn’t have told me
Person A says:
that your guest is a singaporean blogger
Joshua Ong says:
i even gave a msian ic number
Joshua Ong says:
no
Joshua Ong says:
my guest is a msian blogger
Joshua Ong says:
even registered under nn msia
Joshua Ong says:
not nn sg also
Person A says:
now this is difficult
Joshua Ong says:
actually i duno why u all assume my guest is a sporean
Joshua Ong says:
dat i’ve sent in ic number indicating a msian
Joshua Ong says:
wait ahh lemme finish
Person A says:
okok
Joshua Ong says:
i dont intend to quarrel
Joshua Ong says:
ok
Joshua Ong says:
nyways
Joshua Ong says:
i send in msian ic
Joshua Ong says:
and den on the fon
Joshua Ong says:
all i told the other staff dat time
Joshua Ong says:
my guest will be in spore already dat time and no transportation is needed
Joshua Ong says:
dats it
Joshua Ong says:
so it CAN be either my guest will be heading to spore a few days earlier
Joshua Ong says:
to do some stuffs and join me on the weekend
Joshua Ong says:
or it CAN be my guest is already there permanently or so
Joshua Ong says:
but its impossible my guest is a sporean cuz i’ve sent in the ic number…
Joshua Ong says:
but from start, like i’ve said
Joshua Ong says:
you all mention tat bloggers from anthr country can have accomodation for 2, the blogger and the guest. You all didnt mention dat guest should be under wat requirements right?
Joshua Ong says:
am i right hmmmm
Person A says:
there are always terms and conditions
Joshua Ong says:
hey
Person A says:
for every stated sentence
Person A says:
it cannot be possible be all put up front as it may cause even more confusion
Person A says:
for laymen
Person A says:
i understand how disappointed u are
Person A says:
at this moment
Person A says:
and i wish to help u
Person A says:
but at this point of time, it is simply not possible anymore
Joshua Ong says:
you dont tell me got terms and conditions man
Joshua Ong says:
wat stated there
Joshua Ong says:
is a pair of invites
Person A says:
the fact that ur guest has a permanent residence (be it student hostel or rented unit), does not qualify you guest to be sponsored acco
Joshua Ong says:
terms and condition thing was not under that field also
Joshua Ong says:
no offence but this is quite bullshit
Joshua Ong says:
Foreign Bloggers (Asia-Pacific)
* A pair of invites to the Asia-Pacific Blog Awards 23rd October 2009.
* Transportation and accommodation would be provided
* Bloggers’ tour: A sponsored and planned itinerary on 24th October 2009, including attractive tourist and local destinations.
Joshua Ong says:
beneath there no terms and conditions
Joshua Ong says:
even the whole page of awards.nuffnang.com
Joshua Ong says:
no such thing as terms n conditions
Person A says:
u are right
Joshua Ong says:
i dont mean to offend u ah
Person A says:
the web designer didn’t put the t&c page
Joshua Ong says:
im just talking about this matter with u
Person A says:
despite the hard time i have to craft it
Person A says:
damn it
Person A says:
i’ll drop a note to scold him
Person A says:
joshua
Joshua Ong says:
no use now u tell me dat
Joshua Ong says:
hmmm
Person A says:
as much as i wish to help
Joshua Ong says:
yah
Person A says:
as i said
Person A says:
at this point, it is no longer possible
Joshua Ong says:
and u know what
Joshua Ong says:
i know there are bloggers’s guest who are already residing in spore
Joshua Ong says:
but is malaysian
Joshua Ong says:
but they can have a room
Joshua Ong says:
sigh..
Joshua Ong says:
i dont know lah
Person A says:
the directions from sponsors and management is clear to me, if i find out any guests who are residing in sg, this has to be done
Person A says:
of cuz i dun purposely go dig out
Person A says:
who is who
Person A says:
cuz i want u guys to be at peace as well
Person A says:
but when i got information that your guest is currently residing in sg
Person A says:
i have to pass the info upwards
Joshua Ong says:
fyi i didnt say my guest is residing in sg…
Joshua Ong says:
i jz mentioned that my guest wont be following us to sg
Joshua Ong says:
as i mentioned above
Joshua Ong says:
u all can assume my guest will be there earlier or my guest is already there permanently
Joshua Ong says:
so why assume the later and not clarify with me
Joshua Ong says:
further more, i wasnt even told i was assign to stay with anthr blogger
Person A says:
joshua
Person A says:
can i just check
Person A says:
wat are u trying to look for from this conversation
Joshua Ong says:
find out answers to questions that are in my head since yest evening
Person A says:
going thru the communications that took place is nt gonna get anything solved, so let me know what is it that u’re looking for
Person A says:
u just want answers, right?
Person A says:
or do u still intend to push for a room with ur guest?
Person A says:
it is important for u to be clear in ur aim
Person A says:
so i can rectify this in the best manner
Joshua Ong says:
of cuz its best if there’s a room for me n my guest cuz dat was wat i was told and know from the start
Joshua Ong says:
i was trying to look fault at myself you know and i was blaming myself like hell yesterday dat i didnt read the mail
Joshua Ong says:
i know organizing such stuffs is freaking stressful as i was involve in an international conference 3 yrs ago so i try not to find fault on nuffnang first and see what did i miss throughout the whole thing
Joshua Ong says:
dat is why i didnt jump on conclusion yest yet as i dowana add stress to u guys seeing u all have been goin thru alot of sleepless nights
Joshua Ong says:
now the point is yes of cz i intend to push a room for me n my guest, cuz from my point of view, im the guest here.
Person A says:
joshua
Person A says:
i hope this doesn’t sound rude
Person A says:
but i have to inform you that your wish will not be granted
Person A says:
and the worst part is, i do not have the luxury
Person A says:
to talk to u properly
Person A says:
on the entire process
Person A says:
to ensure u’re properly briefed on this decision
Person A says:
if u want me to put it out front, it is impossible for us to get u your own room with your guest
Joshua Ong says:
okay totally understood =)
Person A says:
i’m sorry i can’t talk to u further on this
Person A says:
i need to ensure the event runs smoothly tmr
Person A says:
i hope u’d understand
Joshua Ong says:
nvm
After that conversation, i’ve made up my mind to reject going to this event, even though i can still opt to do so with me having thicker face acting as though as nothing have happen.
Frankly speaking, for me, most of the dialogues/answers given were pretty lame/crappy and even ridiculous to an extend. Graphic designers were pull into the picture taking the blame as well. I mean, for an event like this covering a few countries with around 300++ people attending it, a name THIS BIG,
NUFFNANG, ASIA PACIFIC’S FIRST BLOG ADVERTISING COMMUNITY
should be more professional on this whole matter. Especially when i’m not like those few months old blogger who just started appeared out of no where jumping in the bandwagon creating a blog and start blogging.
I doubt even the few months old bloggers will take all the explanation above as a valid one. They’ll just swallow it all down and keep quiet.
Just like what i’ve blog on Nuffnang Awards previously, this is an event with sponsors and i fully understand that Nuffnang have to consider a lot of stuffs business-wise.
but, again and again when i inquire stuffs from the past till now, stupid excuses and ridiculous answers were shot back, SHOT back not replied!
Thanks to some fellow friends who are kind enough to advice me not to blog about this where i was questioned what will i get from this whole blog post putting it up to the internet, it will do more harm to me than good in the long run, my reply is, i have my limits, it is not this matter alone that i made a decision to blog a post so long about this.
I may sound like a sore loser here but hey I rarely blog a blog post this long with such amounts of words and i don’t expect you to sucked up to me telling me i’m oh-so-awesome-making-such-a-stand, i just hope that you’ll think again after reading this post. Of course, if you would like to bash me, feel free to do so. =)
So, to those people whom i’ve offended, especially the ones who have the power of command in their hands on top of the whole community, i seriously hope that you read what i’ve written here, every single word.
I know its pretty hard to please every one and single blogger, but when shits happens, please stop bringing out lame excuses and such, we aren’t 3 years old. With the minority bloggers who kept their mouth shut tightly about the ugly stuffs behind, some with benefits on hands where some just opt to swallow it down their throat, i hope you enjoyed reading this “drama” i’ve created.
To Nuffnang, for the millions of us bloggers out there, Nuffnang is more than a company where its not just business and business alone where profit of the company plays the main role in the whole picture. With the amount of power you guys have in hand, much more could be achieve and people are putting their faith on you guys.
There are quite a number of disappointments already so please don’t make the numbers rise anymore.
*unless you guys don’t give a damn about it then i have nothing else to say.
Thank You Very Much, Nuffnang Awards!
Oct 22nd
Lots of bloggers have been dying to go to this very event which will be happening from tomorrow till Sunday and you know what?
I just did this.
The Email Sent 3 hours ago.
Hi *****,
I’m sorry to inform that I am unable to attend the Nuffnang Awards that is scheduled tomorrow as well as the whole trip to Singapore that will be happening from tomorrow onwards for 3 days.
Anyhow, thank you very much for the offer.
Cheers.
Joshua Ong.
The Reply.
Hi Joshua,
Thank you for informing us regarding this matter.
We will take note of your unavailability.
Have a nice day!
The fact that the ones who did wrongly, in fact very very wrong, do not want to admit at all bringing every possible lame excuses into the picture making me feels like i’m being treated like a 3 year old kid or rather to say a newbie blogger disgusts me to the max.
Seriously, we all know what is happening and i totally understand the situation. I’m not that stupid.
But hey, i really appreciate if you just be straight forward and admit its your fault and put a closing note to it rather than giving me all sorts of shits from north east west south.
well why am i not surprise?
After all, this is not the first time…
and i’m sure it won’t be the last time!
*To the other bloggers who’re attending this, i’m sure you’ll enjoy this trip. Nuffnang have done lotsa things to make this happen. Enjoy!
Xpax Blackberry Party @ Republic, Sunway
Oct 20th
10 days ago, there was this “happening” Xpax Blackberry Party at Republic, Sunway. It was a party + launch of the first day where Celcom Xpax were selling Blackberry Curve for prepaid users for just RM888.

Yes the promotion was quite attractive and it did attracted quite an amount of people in that venue itself queuing up just to get the Blackberry..

Had myself registered at the counter thanks to Nuffnang i do not need to buy a Blackberry myself to enter the party/VIP zone where there were free booze.

It was rare spotting Nicole herself as she don’t frequent events a lot but anyways i had a picture with her.

With many people who care about getting the Blackberry itself ignoring the awesome performance act by Shawn Lee with his BeatBoxing skills followed by Joe Flizzow himself. Soon enough, i got bored and headed into Republic only to see quite a number of familiar faces.

Simon, Zoe and Vivien are some of them!
If you see it from the view of an event/party, it was pretty sad case i must say. Just refer to the picture below where that was exactly how it was the whole night, with just that handful amount of people walking here and there. Yah walking not dancing.

But of course, if you see it from the other way round, on sales and marketing and such, i think it was quite good. There were quite a lot of people who bought the Blackberry that night and i even know that one dude bought 9 Blackberry, for his colleagues he said.

Putting my view aside on the event, i spent my whole night seeing bloggers snapping pictures repeatingly on different angles, sides and such.

Glad to see WeiWei there and Helen as well! Quite an unexpected meet with Helen because previously i only see her on blogs attending Advertlets events.
Helen is a friend whom i knew ages ago. AGES. Gah i think i need to hang out more with younger ones, just like what Helen is practicing nowadays.

Joshua Wong and Yap Thomas was the rare ones as well. Rare rare ones. Haha.

Well what can i say about this event? Hmm, i’ve already stated what i think and oh about the dude who bought 9 Blackberry whom i’ve mentioned above, he won 2 more in a lucky draw later in the night. Lucky dude.

and oh, i’m jealous of the Top Bloggers who got themselves one Blackberry each to use where they tweeted quite often on Twitter recently stating plus elaborating how awesome it was. Jealous!

Apart from seeing the regular faces around that night exchanging a few words here and there, it was just like any other ordinary night for me then.
Enjoy the Beatboxing by Shawn Lee yah!
Playboy Bunnies in Action at Midvalley
Oct 14th
Last week alone, there was this ongoing roadshow that is related to some fragrance product for men with the brand name Playboy. Yes same name as the well known *ahem* magazine but well, don’t get me wrong, there’s no under 18 content in the event itself.

If you’re lazy to read this post with words and such, you can just view the video below. =)

I was there on last Saturday as there was a mini competition where any girls could participate where they stand a chance to win either a Prada handbag or a Burberry handbag.

Was there around 3PM+ where there were already crowd around the place, mainly attracted by the models.

Soon enough, the competition started with the Jojo Struys the emcee making a short introduction. They asked for 30 random girls to join in the competition and ended up with just like 15 girls joining. Its either the girls there in the mall are too shy or they lack of confidence in themselves. I shall say that they are too shy. xD

So, Jojo Struys showed the participating girls a lesson of confidence which resulted in quite a good response having the crowd cheering and clapping when the girls came out and join in the action.

It was a competition base on voting by the actual crowd in the venue and the girls have to go out themselves to get the votes in order to win the bag.
As for me myself i voted for bunny number….

30th!!

Nehhhhh Bunny No.30 is the Bunnyghini!! or Lambonny!! My favourite bunny. Zzz.
Anyways, the winner of the handbags went to both Nuffnang Bloggers who is
Congrats to them and too bad for the other girls but well they each managed to bring back home a goodie bag.

I’m not sure that is the event successful or not but one thing i know, even participants of the Canon Photo Marathon came to Midvalley to snap pictures!

Keychain anyone?
*if you haven watch the video above, GO WATCH NOW!!
