Back in my time, one of the worldwide craze are watches. Mention G-Shock and Baby G watches and everyone around will say they want one, those who own one would attract attention and jealousy around.

Along the years, the brand name of these watches by Casio went stealth with not as much hype compared to those times. However, today; Casio just announced on their official website that they have signed Girl’s Generation as Face of Baby-G upcoming advertising campaign.

TOKYO, July 10, 2012 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd. announced today that it has signed Girl’s Generation, the girl pop group that has taken Asia by storm, as the face of a Baby-G advertising campaign that begins in July 2012. Girl’s Generation embodies the “tough, cute, cool” concept of Baby-G, Casio’s shock resistant watches for women.

Launched in 1994, Baby-G is Casio’s watch brand for women which inherits the toughness of its shock-resistant G-SHOCK watches. Since then, the basic shock resistance and superior waterproof performance of Baby-G has evolved with additional features and higher performance, including solar-powered systems and neon illuminators. The Baby-G brand is extremely popular with young women, who appreciate how its design not only taps the latest trends but also allows individual expression, as well as the rich spectrum of colors that make Baby-G watches the perfect fashion accessory.

Okay well, I am not a big fan of the brands as I don’t really have the money to get one back then when I was just in primary school haha. However, it’s exciting to see Casio’s ambition in bringing back Baby-G’s fame and glory. Would love to see how will this turn out.

Early last year in Feb 2011, Sprite released an advertisement featuring NBA superstar Kobe Bryant & Asia superstar Jay Chou 周杰伦 in a basketball match.

One Basketball star & One Music star. The ad last year was mainly about basketball so this time round, its more about music.

The new advertisement by Sprite featuring both the same person started off with a mini concert by Jay Chou 周杰伦 with Kobe Bryant playing basketball in the background. Halfway through the concert, Jay called out to Kobe where he went up on stage to join Jay. Watch the ad in the video below.

Personally, I don’t really get the message and I think this ad is not as nice/relevant as the first one released last year. What do you think?

谁说分手就是因为不爱，谁说爱情不能跑赢时间？理解不等同于平淡，别被它制造出的假象蒙蔽，而忽视了早已经深埋彼此内心最珍贵的东西。

A 7 minutes short film that was released around Valentine’s Day has quickly become a hit amongst Chinese netizens. Within a week, the total views for the short film (Counting all videos including reuploads on both youku & tudou) has reached 1 Million hits.

The 7 minutes short film talks about a couple who’s in a 4 years relationship. They lived in the same place, walked on the same road and eventually, they don’t have the spark between them. The silent break up had them recalling memories between them. However, a disconnection in an online game restores the relationship where they found love again.

The short film is actually an advertisement created by a China MMORPG game – 倩女幽魂 Online which was launched 3 years ago in 2009. I would say that this short film was done nicely where they cleverly insert related parts of the games & it blend nicely into the whole storyline with not too much of hard sell.

In fact, if i’m living in China, i would probably be a new player right after watching this short film.

Some facts :
-倩女幽魂 Online is a gaming product of 网易 NetEase & NetEase is one of the big four internet companies in China – Sina 新浪网, Sohu 搜狐网, TenCent 腾讯网.
-In May 2011, NetEase had 77 set of servers running in support of the game 倩女幽魂 Online. It is estimated that the total gamers playing at a given time might reach 600,000.
-倩女幽魂 Online was voted game of the year for 2011 from a survey which consists of 1.2 Million gamers.

Elva 萧亚轩 is one of the few Taiwan female solo singer who can survived the highly competitive entertainment industry with more than 10 years of experience as a singer. As a matter of fact, she has quite a few number of songs which i enjoyed listening to.

Anyway, on the 23rd of December 2011, her 12th album [ I'm Ready 我愛我 ] was released & i just found out recently through an episode of Kang Xi 康熙來了 that a series of short films were produced to aligned with the marketing campaign of the album itself.

With the title 100分的吻 – Kiss of 100%, 4 episodes were produced where each episodes of short film are around 16 minutes. The whole story basically talks about a girl – Elva who fell in love various times & failed in finding Mr Right who holds the key to the ‘Kiss of 100%’.

Focusing on 4 different relationships in each episodes, the aim of the short film is to let everyone reflect on themselves and think back about the values in a relationship

In the 1st episode, Elva fell in love in a guy who was much younger than her only to find herself being the 3rd party after one night stand sessions.

In the 2nd episode, Elva found a matured guy who is 20 years elder than her only to find that the age gap is too much to fill in.

Elva bumped into her long lost friend in the 3rd episode where they met a fortune teller who gave some advice to Elva.

In the last episode, Elva met this dude who is around her age but at the end of the day, he’s just another guy who disappoints her.

I just finish watching all the episodes just yesterday and thought that the story was quite simple to digest where it features different songs from her latest album from time to time. The last episode ended in a really bad way and i thought it could be done better. Millions were spent into producing these short films and i was expecting better stuffs. Anyhow, base on the fact that the main male cast in the 4th episode was ACTUALLY Elva Hsiao’s ex-boyfriend in real life, i guessed that is one GOOD selling point which had the whole series ended on a higher note.

The series was broadcasted online with exclusive collaborative rights to 土豆网 Tudou.com. There are 10 videos being uploaded on the online video platform where the first video was uploaded 1 month ago. The short film series 100分的吻 is still on the Top 10 playing list yesterday with 14,8 Million Views in total. Statistics on re-uploads on Tudou, YouKu, YouTube is not counted yet.

The only thing i’m interested now is what’s the number of sales for her latest album. Is the sales figure good?

Anyway, things are gonna’ get more interesting this year. Lots of Asian singers are uploading high definition music video on to online music platforms where fans could access the media for free, apart from that, various campaigns are planned to align with the promotion of the album which includes stuffs like this – a series of short films created. THIS, is something that recording labels won’t do last time, not in Asia at least.

The competition is getting tougher indeed. Good to see more good stuff comin’ up! Oh yeah, all 4 episodes, do enjoy them below. =)
