Didn’t know how long did Wang Lee Hom 王力宏 practiced for his performance on P Ramlee’s Getaran Jiwa, but I must say that I am impressed! Just watched the video uploaded on his YouTube channel featuring him singing Getaran Jiwa by P Ramlee (Okay I admit I haven hear the song before) and his pronunciation was perfect! Last weekend, Wang Lee Hom was in Genting Highlands, Malaysia for his 3 nights sold out concert. The multi talented superstar from Taiwan proved why he was one of Malaysia’s favorite Chinese singer and he did show his sincerity in closing the gap between himself and his Malaysian fans.

Apart from performing Getaran Jiwa, local Malaysian singer Najwa Latif who emerged from the era of YouTube was invited as one of the performing guest on stage to sing 你不知道的事 with Wang Lee Hom. She must be delighted to do so, she actually did a cover on the song back in 2010. Good stuff!

It was the 3rd time Twin Towers Alive concert was held in Malaysia where all 3 times was organized in conjunction of the Formula One race happening at Sepang International Circuit. The 2-days concert over last weekend at KLCC attracted more than 30k audience on average with solid performances by local acts, Kpop groups and international superstars.

Day 1
The weather was a bit gloomy on day 1 (Friday) of the concert. Apart from the really bad performance by K-Town Clan (My personal opinion), Atilia and Project Elementz did well in warming up the crowd for the bigger acts that came on stage later in the night.

Fans of U-Kiss were constantly shouting for their idol group to come out but they waited patiently for the boys to perform.U-Kiss performed a total of 6 songs – Neverland, Standing Still, 0330, Someday, Believe, Man Man Ha Ni and instantly brought up the atmosphere on the first night of Twin Towers Alive 2013. Guessed the heat was too much then where it started raining shortly after U-Kiss left the stage.

Stylo @live which is an interesting fashion show with a few stunts before the show kept the crowd entertained before Demi Lovato took the stage by storm at around 12am.

A few people I knew who were there expected half the crowd to be gone after U-Kiss’ performances, well that didn’t happen. Fans of Demi Lovato braced through the rain which lasted around 30 minutes and I’m pretty sure Demi Lovato didn’t disappoint them. In fact, I was moved by Demi Lovato’s performances and at one point, it was a bit too emotional for the crowd when she shed a few tears thanking the crowd where the fans shouted : “Don’t cry, we love you”.

Ended that night with an awesome performance by Demi Lovato, little did I know that the second night would be much better.

Day 2
The second night was pretty slow for me. No offence to their fans but local acts like Caprice and Mizz Nina don’t excite me anymore as I’ve watched them performing live a couple of times and the songs they perform are mostly the same every time. Malaysia’s number one beatboxer Shawn Lee displayed a good show with everyone cheering at the end of his performance.

South Korea hip hop girl group 2NE1 had Malaysian blackjacks waiting like mad and when I say mad, they have little patience and they even shouted go away to a few local acts in the first half of the concert.

When 2NE1 came out performing Fire, half of the crowd went crazy jumping along the the song. I believed 2NE1 lived up to the expectation on their first public appearance in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Their energetic display was highly entertaining with 6 songs in total. The best part was Malaysian Blackjacks got to celebrate Bom’s birthday and she looked really cute + happy when everyone sang Happy Birthday to her, sweet.

Backstreet Boys was the bomb. They delivered a world class performance with classic tracks such as Shape Of My Heart, Quit Playin’ Games, As Long As You Love Me, I Want It That Way and more! The boy group which was formed in 1993 is actually a “men” group now and though there were some parts where the pitch went off, everyone just loved the fact that they are watching BSB live up on stage.

No idea when did the organizers picked 3 fans but when the girls were brought up on stage to be with BSB when they were performing I’ll Never Break Your Heart, am sure that every other girls at the venue were jealous then. At the end of the day, it was a massive 30k people karaoke session and BSB still has it. It was beyond awesome!!!

This year is the 20th anniversary for Backstreet Boys, the international group which take over the world since they debuted back in 1993. Backstreet Boys was one of the 4 main acts which was invited to perform in KLCC, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia over the weekend alongside with Demi Lovato, UKISS and 2NE1. The group was scheduled to perform on Saturday night – 23 March 2013 over the weekend and they brought a good news along with them for Malaysian fans.

Apart from delivering a solid track list of 11 songs which includes some of their biggest hits in the last 2 decades, they announced that they will be having their concert here in Malaysia sometime later this year as well. They even mentioned that the show last Saturday was just a warm up session. Nice. Backstreet Boys’ performance were perfect and that was the biggest highlight of my last weekend. All the memories during secondary school days came back instantly with their classic tracks.

Apart from U-KISS, another Kpop group – 2NE1 was here in Malaysia as well last weekend for the show at 2013 Twin Towers @Live Concert at KLCC, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The all girls Kpop group consisting of 4 members CL, Dara, Minzy & Park Bom was formed in 2009 and this is the first time they made a public appearance in Malaysia. They were supposed to perform in Malaysia back in 2012 but the show was called off. Anyway, the highly energetic hip-hop group was one of the main highlighted acts during the 2-days Twin Towers Alive concert and they performed a total of 6 songs – Fire, Can’t Nobody, Lonely, Ugly, I am the best & I love you.

The best part was Malaysian Blackjacks got to celebrate Bom’s birthday at the concert!! You must check out the video below to see how cute Bom was when everyone sang her Happy Birthday!

Last Friday, Demi Lovato was here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to perform at 2013 Twin Towers Alive concert. She came out on stage at around 12AM and brought the crowd through an emotional run by interacting with her fans quoting herself during her hard times in her career thanking her fans for the continuous support. Nevertheless, her performances was definitely the main highlight of the night at KLCC.

Taiwan’s biggest rock band Mayday 五月天 was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia over last weekend to perform at Putra Indoor Stadium, Bukit Jalil two consecutive nights on both Saturday(2 March 2013) and Sunday(3 March 2013).The band consist of Ashin 阿信 (Lead Singer), Monster 怪獸, Stone 石頭 (Guitarist), Masa 瑪莎 (Bassist) and Guan You 冠佑 (Drummer).

When Mayday 五月天 came to KL, Malaysia for their 五月天變形DNA無限放大版世界巡迴 (2008-2010) in 2010, I had the chance to experience an amazing night and till date, that was still one of the best concert I’ve attended. Same like their last world tour, concerts of Mayday No-W-HERE 诺亚方舟 World Tour 2013 LIVE in Malaysia 马来西亚巡回演唱会 is based on a concept which revolves around the end of the world and the search for a new ‘second’ life where the whole idea came from the concept of their 8th album, Second Round – 第二人生.

Starplanet shared that this specific concert is one of the most expensive concert to organize as the amount of stuffs needed to complete the look and feel of the whole performance stage area are pretty complicated. This includes the huge amount of LED screens installed on the stage plus five gigantic elevated platforms installed along with the stage and all these excludes the sounds system as well as the overall lightings around the stage. The result? The visual experience was superb. Those who were sitting far away must have felt like they’re watching a movie altogether.

However, I felt that I didn’t enjoy as much as I did this time compared to their last concert back in 2010. Filled with impressive graphics and animation with video montages that comes on stage with 5 elevated platforms and massive LED screens everywhere, the sound and lightings was all good and Mayday 五月天 wasn’t disappointing at all. It might be just me but I liked that the overall concept of 五月天變形DNA無限放大版世界巡迴 more. I think the band interacted more with the fans back in 2010 as well. Of course, I still enjoyed myself pretty much singing along with some of the familiar tunes by Mayday 五月天!!

Malaysian Mayday fans are one of the best crowd in the world. Most of the fans who attended the concert brought along a unique custom made concert LED Light Stick. Before the concert, fans left messages on various Facebook pages about this custom made Mayday LED light stick which was available for sale at the venue for RM20 and believe me, the atmosphere through out the concert will never be the same without these LED light sticks.

It was a mesmerizing night with the LED lights shining through out the concert and to be amongst a hardcore bunch who sang along every single song, I really had a good 3 quality hours enjoying the show featuring Asia’s top Chinese band – Mayday 五月天.

Last Sunday, Paramore was here in Malaysia performing in front of 5,000 die-hard fans at Stadium Negara, Kuala Lumpur. It was their second time here in Malaysia since 2010. Tune Talk and BlackBerry was the 2 main sponsors which makes this possible – the Return of Paramore Live in Kuala Lumpur 2013.

The band Paramore which is currently consisting of Jeremy Davis, Taylor York, and Hayley Williams, have been through since their last show here, most notably losing founding members Josh and Zac Farro. Of course, the Malaysian fans were fully supportive up till now when they came for the 2nd time.

The concert started at 8PM+ with another act mewithoutYou, an American rock band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where the band performed for like an hour long. From my past experience attending concerts, it’s my first time ever witnessing another act having so much performing time out on stage compare to the main act. The title of the concert was the Return of Paramore Live in Kuala Lumpur. I find it a bit ridiculous and funny but good thing the crowd didn’t create much commotion and Paramore delivered a fantastic performance that night.

I mean like if I were to purchase tickets to Paramore concert and it was announced that the concert will start at 8PM, I went earlier, waited patiently till 8PM comes, then an act apart from Paramore came out to perform near to 1 hou followed by a 15 minutes break (for the crew to re-set up the stage for Paramore) before my favorite band Paramore make their way out, I would feel a bit pissed off. No offence to fans of mewithYou but when I was standing in the rock zone, I heard quite a number of people complaining about mewithYou’s type of music and at times, I was annoyed too. Duh.

Well anyways, Paramore made their way up on stage at around 9PM++ and brought the fans through a tracklist of 18 songs in total delivering a quality high energy performance that night.

Starting off with Now to That’s What You Get, the crowd at the rockzone were jumping and singing along loudly at the same time with their hands way up in the air waving. The atmosphere was superb and all I can say is Hayley Williams is still the same highly energetic icon of Paramore I’ve witnessed in Paramore’s concert a few years back here in KL.

There’s no doubt about her vocals, what I really respect about her is her dedication in performing live as well as interacting with the fans which had me all impressed with two thumbs up saluting her. Through out Paramore’s performance, the strong crowd of 5,000 die-hard fans sang their lungs out every single song. It was amazing!

At the end of the day, I’m sure Paramore’s fans went back home with a big smile on their face. A few bruises or muscle pain due to the extensive jumps and maybe having sorethroat as a result of singing out from their hearts, but it doesn’t matters. Paramore ROCKS.

JLO Dance Again World Tour Live In Malaysia 2012 that was held earlier this month at Stadium Merdeka was awesome! Though the mood was quite down before the concert due to the rain that came pouring, it was great to watch her performing live all thanks to Celcom XPAX!

Was deciding whether to drive to the stadium or park somewhere near a monorail station and talk the train there on the day itself. Made a last minute decision to go with the monorail as it started to rain and good thing me and my friend decided so, we skipped the jam and reached around 7pm meeting up strong crowd lining out of the stadium under the rain.

Anyway we (both me and my friend) met up with a few familar faces before heading into the stadium to be seated in the area where there’s a roof above us. Good thing I was not on the field – I thought to myself. The rain shows no signs of stopping even after Jennifer Lopez came up on stage at 9PM, one hour later than the scheduled time of the concert.

However, the atmosphere totally change when the 43 years old international superstar stood out in a gliterring suit with her bunch of dancers rocking the stage. Tracks from her earlier days such as Love Don’t Cost A Thing, Jenny From The Block and Waiting For Tonight were performed. Those were the songs I prefered more actually compare to her recent club hits.

There was one part when her boyfriend was on stage dancing with her, quite hot I must say!

Anyway, the climax of the concert was definitely when she performed On The Floor. The rain had already stopped by then and everyone was jumping to the tunes. Shortly after the performance, Jennifer Lopez went off the stage leaving the crowd screaming encore.

For me, I’ve already expected that she will be back on stage again as the song Dance Again wasn’t out yet and that was indeed the last song she performed on stage before wrapping up the Malaysia version of Dance Again World Tour.

I enjoyed quite a lot that night watching Jennifer Lopez showing no signs of stopping in her career by dancing and singing off her heart on stage. It was amazing, thanks to Celcom XPAX for the experience!

Last Saturday, the all female band SCANDAL from Japan was here in Malaysia for their first official concert in South East Asia. The event – SCANDAL Special LIVE in Malaysia 2012 was held a KL LIVE Centre, Kuala Lumpur where the 4 girls (小野 春菜 Haruna Ono – rhythm guitar, vocals and leader, 小川 ともみ Tomomi Ogawa – bass, vocals, 笹崎 まみ Mami Sasazaki – lead guitar, backing vocals and 鈴木 理奈 Rina Suzuki – drums) performed a total of 14 songs.

The band which was formed in 2006 who went on to the streets in their earlier stage rise to fame in recent years with invitation to perform in the US, France, Singapore, Hong Kong & Taiwan. With a total of 4 albums under their belt with a few tracks hitting ORICON charts in Japan, the band has a scheduled concert in March 2013 at a venue with 16,000 capacity at Osaka Castle Hall. SCANDAL’s single SATISFACTION was chosen as the track being featured in Windows 8 promotional campaign in Japan and that proves that they are one of the top bands in Japan.

Back to SCANDAL Special LIVE in Malaysia 2012, the girls were super friendly and interacted quite a number of times with the fans present there at KL LIVE center. It was actually the second time for me to watch a concert performed by a Japan artiste (1st time was May’n) and I must say that there’s something different between Jpop and Kpop performances, the way they sing/perform is really different. No offence to hardcore Kpop fans but I’m actually more attracted to performances by Jpop artiste.

Anyway, SCANDAL’s performance last Saturday was first class. If you are wondering, their live performance is definitely better than the tracks recorded in studio through songs you can listen on their albums.

I find this particular group extremely interesting due to the fact that they are an all female band and they can sing & play musical instruments well! Of course, they have an attractive appearance and I think all these things altogether make this group a unique one. Have you listened to the collaboration track by YUI and SCANDAL band on the song ‘How Crazy’ which was released under YUI’s Tribute Album ‘SHE LOVES YOU’? You should! By the way, I LOVE Yui.

Hope there’ll be more Japanese acts coming to Malaysia next year and YES it was good watching SCANDAL performing live!!!
