It was the 2nd day we were there, both me and John were deciding on what to have for breakfast. Before that, i asked a friend before & realized that the citizens in Hong Kong don’t practise having breakfast & dinner is the most important meal of the day.

澳洲牛奶公司 Australia Dairy Company - 47-49, Jordan Road 佐敦 Parkes St 白加士街 Kowloon, Hong Kong 香港

Then again, i found out about this super famous coffee shop-like place in Kowloon 九龍 where they serve the best scrambled eggs and steamed milk pudding! Apparently, this is a MUST-GO place if it’s your first time in Hong Kong. Upon reaching Jordan Road 佐敦道, we found our way into Parkes St 白加士街 and saw a queue lining up from the entrance of 澳洲牛奶公司 Australia Dairy Company situated in a relatively old building.

澳洲牛奶公司 Australia Dairy Company - 47-49, Jordan Road 佐敦 Parkes St 白加士街 Kowloon, Hong Kong 香港

It was like 10.30AM in the morning and we waited patiently along the queue. In less than 10 minutes, we managed to get ourselves a place to sit. Here, i must share something with you. If it’s your first time being in Hong Kong, it’s a norm for people to share tables in coffee shops especially those older ones which have created a name for themselves along the decades.

Surroundings of 澳洲牛奶公司 Australia Dairy Company

Surroundings of 澳洲牛奶公司 Australia Dairy Company

Surroundings of 澳洲牛奶公司 Australia Dairy Company

Apart from that, you’re kinda expected to order fast, finish your food/drink fast & pay then leave as soon as possible. This is to accommodate other customers they have waiting outside of the venue. Only applicable to food places which is well known amongst the people living nearby. So yea, we ordered almost immediately after looking at the menu on the wall, with an impatient waiter. Another norm. Lol.

Food menu at 澳洲牛奶公司 Australia Dairy Company

Macaroni Soup with Ham Slices 火腿通粉 - 4/5 at HKD26 or RM13

We actually ordered 3 breakfast sets. 1 toasted white bread with fried eggs, 1 toasted white bread with scrambled eggs and macaroni soup with ham slices. I must say that the service here is even faster than fast food chains. The macaroni soup with ham slices was nice, though the broth was slightly salty, the macaroni was cooked perfectly where it’s not too soft/hard. The dish was heart warming. On the other hand, the toasted bread with friend eggs was just nice as breakfast.

Toasted White Bread with Scrambled Egg 西煎双蛋 – 5/5 at HKD26 or RM13

What made my day was this - Toasted White Bread with Scrambled Egg 西煎双蛋. The scrambled eggs deserved all the likes possibly and though it looks like any other scrambled eggs you can find on other spots on earth, this specific one is really cooked to perfection. It is a MUST-TRY item and the scrambled eggs served here has high standard where it requires a certain set of skills to get it done & served. No i’m not exaggerating, try it and you’ll know what i mean!

Famous Steamed Egg White Milk Pudding 蛋白燉鮮奶 - 5/5 at HKD20 or RM10

Last but not least, one of their famous serving - Steamed Egg White Milk Pudding 蛋白燉鮮奶!!! Love this to bits, the smooth texture, the right combination of milk & egg white steamed and the sweetness of it which was just nice, it was super delicious! That makes it 2 MUST-TRY item in 澳洲牛奶公司 Australia Dairy Company!! No wonder this place gained lotsa popularity amongst tourists and people only have positive reviews to share about this place.

Had my last sip of Iced Milk Tea 冻奶茶 before ending my awesome breakfast within 15 minutes with all the delicious food i can get from 澳洲牛奶公司 Australia Dairy Company. Paid the bill and left the place with a big smile on my face. Will definitely visit this place again the next time i visit Hong Kong 香港.

Mong Kok 旺角 is one of the first few places i went to when i was in Hong Kong recently. The district has one of the highest population density in the world and if you’ve been there, this would be one of the busiest place in Hong Kong itself. With an array of markets, small shops and mini food stalls, this is one of the place you have to go if it’s your first time in Hong Kong.

Ladies’ Street 女人街 (Tung Choi Street 通菜街)
Tung Choi Street is a street situated between Boundary Street 界限街 and Dundas Street 登打士街. Being one of the most well-known street markets in Hong Kong, the market offers a wide range of women relate products such as clothing, accessories, cosmetics. Of course, there are other items available as well.

Sports Shoe Street 波鞋街 (Fa Yuen Street 花園街)
This street is located between Boundary Street 界限街 and Dundas Street 登打士街 as well, just a block away from Tung Choi Street and you can find loads of sports wear from casual sports wear to sports shoe & etc. There are around 40-50 shops selling almost the same items.

While walking aimlessly from one point to another, we went to another street – Sai Yeung Choi Street South (西洋菜南街) which has a whole lot of electronic products to offer. As you can see in the picture above, broadband resellers were on the street selling different packages of broadband as well.

Oh, we kinda went to Mong Kok Portland Street 砵兰街 as well, one of the red-light district in Hong Kong. Nuff said.

Walking through the street markets made me feel like home as it is slight the same as Petaling Street back in Kuala Lumpur. Was quite disappointed that the sports wear sold there isn’t anyway cheaper than the ones in KL, in fact i could get stuffs at 50-60% cheaper back in KL.

Probably won’t waste that much time going through the few streets mentioned above next time when i visit Hong Kong again. Ha.

Would probably visit Temple Street again for it’s roadside snacks as well as its local cuisine offerings. Yums! =D

Too bad i can’t play basketball yet. Was really tempted to go into the court and sweat off. Boo

After a walk around 庙街 Temple Street, both me and John came across this dessert shop which had quite a number of customers. The venue itself was full of people where there were people sitting outside of the shop as well.

Without second thoughts, we went in immediately to order our desserts.

The place serves quite a wide range of desserts and the ones on the many tables smells really good. This is what we ordered.

芝麻糊 Black Sesame Paste – 4/5 at HKD15 or RM7.5

Frankly speaking, the desserts there weren’t really amazing but it was good enough for us to clear our throats after we went through 3-4 streets back-to-back. The Black sesame paste i had was really ‘gao’ and i enjoyed it pretty much. However, the Taro sweet sago John ordered was a bit tasteless in my opinion.

No harm giving it a try if you happen to be there. =)

The area consists of quite a number of hotels as well as guesthouses, inns, hostels & etc but the main attraction of the place is it’s one of the main shopping areas in Hong Kong. Shopping malls include 1881 Heritage, Cke, Harbour City, iSquare, K11, Miramar Shopping Centre, New World Centre, The Palace Mall, Silvercord, The ONE.

At Tsim Sha Tsui East which is near to the harbour as well as the Avenue of Stars 星光大道, there’re luxurious brands stores along the road such as Hermes, Miu Miu, Chanel, Louis Vuitton & etc.

As far as i’m concern, my main purpose in the recent Hong Kong trip is to eat, so shopping ain’t what i was looking forward to. Apart from that, the stuffs there isn’t really that cheap as well and i was on limited budget.

The place would be a great shopping area for girls. Maybe i should bring my girl there sometime in the future. xD

新明記肥牛猪骨煲 San Ming Kee Hot Pot was the place we had our first dinner during the recent trip to Hong Kong. Both me and John Mah were tired after walking through 廟街 Temple Street market. We reached the southern part of the market where we came across this particular restaurant at a corner of a lane in a row of shops.

The whole street was pretty quiet and this specific steamboat restaurant immediately stood out due to the amount of people sitting out of the place having their dinner.

This eating place seems to be quite big amongst the people staying nearby as there was a long waiting list where the both of us have to wait for around 45 minutes till we get our seat. We were the 13th people in line on the waiting list. Insane.

新明記猪骨煲 Pork Bones Soup Base – 5/5 at HKD98 or RM49

The wait was worth it as we had an enjoyable time having one of the best meal in our Hong Kong trip!!!

First we ordered the pork bones soup base - 新明記猪骨煲 from a whole range of choice available. The soup base contains lots of pork bones huge in size with the additional white carrots, carrots, corns with some pepper & assorted vegetables . The longer we boiled the soup, the tastier it gets. It was really delicious to have tasted the soup boiled based on the pork bones, especially when you add in other ingredients ordered. Yummy!

Here are some of the additional dish we ordered. xD

手切鲜肥肉 (中) Slices of Beef Meat – 5/5 at HKD118 or RM59

It was delicious! Depends on how you cooked it yourself but normally it won’t take you long boiling it in the soup base before you could have a bite on the slices of fresh beef meat. Quite juicy as well. Thumbs up!

鲜虾水饺皇 Fresh Prawn Dumplings – 4/5 at HKD32 or RM16

The dumplings were filled with slices of vegetables & fresh prawns that are big in size. At least i know it’s much bigger than the ones served in Malaysia. Very juicy and tasty i must say, especially when you take it and have a spoon of the soup. Awesomeness!!!

手打黑椒牛丸 Handmade Black Pepper Beef Meatballs – 4/5 at HKD35 or RM17

The handmade beef meatballs was quite chewy. The black pepper added to the meatballs brought out the ‘kick’ and taste of the beef meat. Recommended!

Apart from that, we also ordered 杂菜 Assorted Vegetables – 4/5 at HKD20 or RM10 and 2 bottles of beer at HKD35 or RM17

The bill summed up to HKD338 or RM169 with both of us having a very satisfied meal. Wished there were more people with us to try out more food though. A highly recommended dinner place for me, do go and try it yourself if you’re in Hong Kong!!

Do remember to be at the place by 7PM if you don’t want to be in the long queue of waiting to be served. A quick search online states that by 7PM-7.30PM, the place will be filled with people, that’s like 20-30 tables all taken up!

Char Siew Roasted Pork Rice 叉烧烧肉饭 – 2/5 at HKD36 or RM18

Though we were extremely hungry, i was kinda disappointed with the Char Siew 叉烧 served at this particular outlet. I expected better ones which taste much nicer but the ones here are hard to chew on and it’s pretty tasteless. The roasted pork 烧肉 was just so so only. Good thing i had roasted duck 烧鸭 myself which tasted good!

Fried Carrot Cake 萝卜糕 – 2/5 at HKD21 or RM10

The Fried Carrot Cake 萝卜糕 was quite tasteless as well. The sauce which came along didn’t blend well with the dish. So disappointed. There goes my first meal in Hong Kong.

Cold Milk Tea 冻奶茶 – 2/5 at HKD8 or RM4

Cold Milk Tea was the only thing which made me happy at the end of the meal.

Came back and found out that this 香港仔烧味牛什.鱼蛋粉面 at 尖沙咀 Tsim Sha Tsui has quite a number of negative reviews. Too bad we didn’t do our research before we went to Hong Kong.

The bill came up to HKD109 which is around RM55. Oh well. Do not visit this place if you happen to be around the area hunting for food. Boo.

On the first night itself, we stayed in Guangdong Guest House 广东宾馆 which was located in Tsim Sha Tsui 尖沙咀. The location was quite good as it was located in one of the busiest district in Hong Kong being in the heart of various businesses, shopping and entertainment outlets.

Entering Chungking Mall Mansions 重庆大厦 after our long bus trip from the airport had us having weird thoughts as the building itself was occupied with many Indians and Pakistani people. No offence to the specific races but while we are waiting for the lift, a fight almost happened there. 1 person cut queue, another one not happy with it – raised his hands and grab the other’s neck pushing him towards the wall. Pretty tension atmosphere.

Upon arriving the door, i mean the guest house, we were welcomed with quite a number of notice out on the reception entrance.

Please contact Simon To only. Simon is a Chinese. Don’t check in with Indian Simon. Seriously? LOL! Again, i have to say, i’m not racist, it’s just too funny!! Go imagine what happened before yourself. ROFLMAO.

Apparently, this specific accommodation place received quite an amount of awards in the past. With Simon the ONLY person working there, i wonder how he managed to pull out an excellent job doing everything all by himself.

Simon is a nice guy who was very helpful in almost every thing. A quick intro by him with brief information about the location as well as the guest house itself made us feel welcomed instantly.

Guangdong Guest House 广东宾馆 at Tsim Sha Tsui 尖沙咀 is a place equipped with electronic doors where you need a key card to access. The building itself has CCTV all over the place.

The room we had is one of the biggest room available in Guangdong Guest House 广东宾馆 but well, as you can see in the pictures above, it’s really quite a sad case for the both of us. Good thing we managed to utilized every inches of it then.

The stay was a decent one. A place with Free Wi-Fi internet, entertainment from TV with DVDs available, air-conditioner, toilet with shampoo & shower gel, towels provided and of course, bed! We booked a Double Bed Private Ensuite and the stay was USD68 which is around RM212.

During the next 3 nights stay in Hong Kong, we went to YESinSPACE Hostel which is located at Tai Kok Tsui 大角咀. The place contains both industrial and residential areas where it’s between Mong Kwok 旺角 and Olympic 奧運 MTR station 地铁站 in Kowloon.

The place is slightly quiet compared to the previous stay. Further away from the prime areas where there’s a school & college located nearby.

The YESinSPACE Hostel contains a few floors & the reception is located on the 4th floor itself. At first glance, the place look extremely nice where it was re-furnished just recently. Got our room keys and headed up straight to the 9th floor to our room!

Didn’t imagine the room to so well furnished and i was really satisfied with the stay at YESinSPACE hostel. The room we got is a Standard Twin Private Ensuite. There’s a place for cooking purposes with a mini refrigerator. An attached toilet as well as TV with a couch & cupboards as well.

Had the housekeeping maid arranged our beds to 2 single beds to our comforts. The stay for 3 nights cost us HKD 1704.00 which is RMR685.69.

The reception by Simon at Guangdong Guest House 广东宾馆 at Tsim Sha Tsui 尖沙咀 was wonderful, the place was quite clean with sufficient basic facilities but Chungking Mansion 重庆大厦 itself is quite a dodgy place of mixed people.

On the other hand, YESinSPACE Hostel at Tai Kok Tsui 大角咀 is much more of a better place to stay in with a peace of mind, however, the location is slightly far from train stations and prime areas. 7-10 minutes walk to Mong Kwok 旺角 and 5-7 minutes walk to Olympic 奧運 & MTR station 地铁站 (That’s if you’re familiar with the location itself & you can stand walking under the sun). Of course, you can opt for mini bus or cab. =)

Would totally recommend YESinSPACE if you ask me. Wonderful place to stay in. For more info, click here.

Though we booked our flight tickets with AirAsia last year, the trip was confirmed pretty last minute and so we booked our accommodation like just weeks ago before our stay. The cost could be cheaper if we booked earlier. Anyways our stays for 4 nights cost us RM 897, an amount which is still affordable for a stay in Hong Kong. =)
