Shila made it. Our fellow singer from Malaysia is the WINNER of the singing competition Asian Wave 声动亚洲 that is running in China! Just last night, the finale of Asian Wave 声动亚洲 which has just ended in Shanghai, China was broadcasted live from Dragon TV 东方卫视.

For your information, the competition is quite a huge one. The competition was divided into 2 parts which ran since July this year. First part was with singers (60 Participants) from China where the run lasted from 11th of July till 30th of August. The second part focuses on singers from Asia from 3 September to 20 September with participants from 7 different countries.

There were 10 top finalist in the finale that ended just last night. Shila performed 3 songs (Gemilang, Grenade & 征服) before the judges announced that she was the winner of the competition beating other top singers in the region. The Malaysian singer received 9 votes to claim the title of the competition beating 30 other contest participants. Impressive!

Well Congratulations to Shila Amzah and I hope that she can breakthrough from the local entertainment scene making a name for herself in Asia itself. Awesome!

《Forever Lover》 马来西亚星二代“示爱”王力宏

来自马来西亚的实力女唱将Shila（茜拉）是个名副其实的星二代，其父亲是在马来西亚家喻户晓的男歌星。在后台采访时，茜拉大有青出于蓝之势，她害羞地表示王力宏是其偶像，“我还记得05年他来到马来西亚，我原本想去机场接机却没想到记错了时间，这至今都是我一个很大的遗憾”。今天，站在《思妍丽声动亚洲》亚洲区舞台上的Shila用一首王力宏的《Forever Love》向自己的偶像“示爱”。据悉，为了练习这首歌，此前很少接触中文的Shila愣是把自己关在家里整整一个月的时间。

而一曲唱罢，全场雷鸣般的掌声便说明了一切，音乐评论员之一的巫启贤更是向Shila打包票表示一定想办法让王力宏听到这个版本的《Forever Love》，这也让马来西亚姑娘喜出望外。

With a Malay performing a Mandarin song (Shila Amzah – Forever Love) and a Chinese performing a Malay song (刘婉滢-Bukan Cinta Biasa) on such a competition at such a huge scale where both of them did a really good job in their own rendition of the songs, I must say that I’m absolutely proud being a Malaysian. =)

Hope that the Malaysian participants can make it big with this competition. MALAYSIA BOLEH!!!

Asian Wave is an ambitious reality singing competition with joint-involvement/participation of various media channels in Asia. It has been more than a week since Lee Hom’s concert here in Malaysia on the 3th of March 2012 and i really miss his LIVE performance!!! When he was here, i enjoyed his performances. At the same time, what kept me amazed was his talent in playing different types of musical instruments. Knowing it and watching it LIVE is 2 different thing!

One of the instruments he used during the concert was the SUPER COOL Bahamut Dragon Air Guitar, before this, I only saw the guitar on news articles featuring his past concerts but this timer round, i get to see it LIVE. It was a beauty, so gorgeous i wished i have one all by myself.

This Chinese comedy All’s Well, Ends Well 八星抱喜 2012 starring Raymond Wong 黄百鸣, Donnie Yen 甄子丹, Louis Koo 古天乐, Chapman To 杜汶泽, Yang Mi 杨幂, Sandra Ng 吴君如, Kelly Chan 陈慧琳, Lyn Xiong 熊黛林 was released on the 20th of January, two days before Chinese New Year. The fourth movie of the popular film series is quite an enjoyable & relaxing movie.

In less than 1 week, we’ll be celebrating Chinese New Year and i can’t wait to get my hands on all the good food with friends, gathering together exchanging laughter. I’m all gear on with CNY mode activated and this happy happy cheerful CNY mode will last for approx. 3 weeks till the next CNY comes. Maybank has launched an application on Facebook recently in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year festive period and after going through the game, i must say that it’s interesting. Hehehe. Well, there are 3 main parts in the application itself.

GOLDEN LION

In the first part, you are able to choreograph a virtual lion dance and send it to your friends and family as a Chinese New Year greeting card. It’s pretty fun playing around with different combinations where they actually let you choose from 20 different moves for the lion dance. With 3 different Chinese New Year background music to choose from. LOL!!!

Here’s the detailed steps 
Choose one of the three background music available,
Choose 10 different/same moves then drag and drop into the fram
Type your messageto go with the dance
Preview the dance, delete/replace any unwanted moves
Send when ready

So yeah, it’s quite easy, you just choreograph a virtual golden lion dance & send as a CNY greeting to your friends/family. The best thing is there are daily favorite picks to receive rm250 Ang Pow!!!!! Also, 3 best golden Lion Dance in the whole period (11 Jan – 31 Jan 2012) gets a real lion dance performance sent to their house plus more Ang Pows!!! That would be cool if that happens to me, i never had a Lion Dance performance in front of my house hahaha!

Launched on 27 July 2011, the Berjaya Youth Short Film Competition was created as a platform for Malaysian youth, aged 18-25 to share their inspiring stories through film based on 3 themes, Inspire, Make A Difference & Loving Earth.

Upon finding out about it at the end of August, i contacted 2 friends – Ren & Nigel to join this competition together. Previously, the 3 of us have worked on another short film when we joined another competition – The Star In.Tech EOS Movie Challenge.

We actually have a few discussions online over facebook chat/MSN and came out with a simple idea based on the theme Inspire. Due to our daily full-time job, we are unable to commit our time aligning our schedules together to come out with a more complicated and better way of telling a story, thus, our short film was scheduled to have everything shot in 1 day itself where the focus falls on the post-processing part.

The whole short film is based on the true story of Grandma Fong, a character with the same surname. The short film was presented in documentary-style. Pretty straight forward. Do watch it. =)

10 short films were selected from 150 entries by 3 local producers – Afdlin Shauki, Ah Niu & Gayatri Pillai. To be frank, the 3 of us were happy enough to be shortlisted in the top 10 and we were more than happy to be noticed.

After going through 2 rounds of public voting, Grandma Fong emerged as 3rd Runner Up and personally, i am grateful that Grandma Fong is in the top 5.

Last week was the prize ceremony session & they officially announced the results :

Grand Prize Winner – Dream House by Nick Seah
1st Runner Up – Live Slow by Teh Keh Ping
2nd Runner Up – The Recorder by Ker Yong Jie
3rd Runner Up – Grandma Fong by Joshua Ong
4th Runner Up – Awake by Chai Yoke Man

Total value of prizes exceeded RM85,000. According to the organizers, this is the 1st time they organize a competition like this and next year, they’ll be doing it again. Too bad by then i’ll not be eligible for it anymore.

Just recently, i joined this competition – Berjaya’s Short Film Competition 2011. Submitted a video in the category of “Inspiring” with the title – ‘Grandma Fong’.

The video was completed together with 2 good friends of mine, Nigel & Ren over a couple of days and just last week, i was notified that the video got shortlisted in the top 10!!!! *jumps up and down*

Anyway now, it’s in the voting stage up on Berjaya’s website and i need every help i could get. That being said, i need your VOTES!!!

I am one of the many students who rely on public transport a lot back in my college days going on multiple rides daily which largely involves Rapid KL buses on different routes. For all you know, i always have quite an amount of coins in my bag before i start my journey each day so i could pay for the bus fares.

Well anyways, do you know that now, you do not need to bring small change/coins when you go on bus rides? I’m sure you all know that you can use your Touch ‘n Go card at tolls and parking lots; I recently tried taking a bus and realized that now, you could also use Touch ‘n Go on RapidKL buses!

This is one thing i was hoping for back in my school days where such convenience should be brought over to RapidKL buses in Kuala Lumpur!

How does it works? When you first get up the bus, touch your Touch ‘n Go card on these device, your card will be charged the maximum fee of a single ride. Upon leaving, touch your card on the device again & the device will automatically detect how far you went and refund a particular amount of money to your Touch ‘n Go card. Pretty straight forward right? =D

At the same time, i found out about this contest that is currently running to promote the usage of Touch ‘n Go card on RapidKL buses as well.

Entry Method – You could register :
a)Via SMS – Type in RTW Touch ‘n Go serial card number I/C or Passport Number Name and send to 33080.
