The Dark Knight Rises Movie Review

The Dark Knight Rises was awesome but I still think that The Dark Knight movie released in 2008 is the best amongst Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. Probably because I think Heath Ledger played a better role as a villain in the trilogy. Yes, I think that Bane wasn’t impressive enough. Thanks to ChurpChurp, I watched the movie on Wednesday night.

This movie itself was set in 8 years after The Dark Knight movie where Harvey Dent has become a heroic figure in Gotham City with Batman last sighted during his death. To be frank, I appreciate the fact that Christopher Nolan is the director of this specific Batman trilogy introducing a darker & more serious Bruce Wayne to the world. All 3 movies were tied closely and I really love this darker version of Batman. The emotions behind this Batman and the story behind him is one of the strong element in the whole trilogy and you will somehow feel sad on behalf of Bruce Wayne.

Bane is the villain in this movie itself. Said to be one of Batman’s toughest enemy where he actually crushed the caped crusader himself in the original comic books story, I wasn’t WOW-ed by Tom Hardy in this film. However, I appreciate the existence of Catwoman featuring Anne Hathaway in this particular film as well as John Blake as Gotham City’s beat cop. The street fighting scenes were nice and I really enjoyed watching it.

Selina Kyle / Catwoman played by Anne Hathaway was one of the many spices of this movie. This character has quite a lot of scenes and is one of the main highlight of the movie, from a thief to an ally of Batman himself, Anne Hathaway definitely deserve to be involved in another movie featuring the origins of Catwoman. Well, though I was wishing she had a whip with her, the part when she ride the Batpod was pretty awesome.

Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne shines this time in the epic conclusion of Nolan’s Batman trilogy. Batman begins was a bit dull where it tells the tale of how he became Batman and all going under the training being part of the League of Shadows. The Dark Knight was EPIC but I personally think that Joker outshine Bruce Wayne in that film. The Dark Knight Rises shows a private side of Bruce Wayne and I really loved that.

Batman’s vehicles are always one of the main highlights in past Batman movies and this time round, the Bat aircraft failed to impress me. Maybe it’s just me. However, I’m totally in love with the Batpod!!!

The Dark Knight Rises is a movie with a good story accompanied with great tracks/sound effects and the movie is totally worth watching though its nearly 3 hours long. Appreciate the fact that they didn’t apply too much CG effects in this film itself which shows more realism to it. Love the twist towards the end of the film and though Christopher Nolan showed no interest in any future Batman films, he did opened up a few possibilities to a sequel at the end of The Dark Knight Rises & I’m quite excited about it. Hope Warner Bros do something about it and further elaborate on certain characters. Till then, I MUST WATCH THIS MOVIE AGAIN on IMAX!!!

You know, I really miss watching scenes of the Bat-signal up high on the sky as well as sights of Batwing. I  still preferred Tim Burton’s version of Batman’s vehicles  roaming the streets/skies of Gotham City.

My Rating for this movie is 8.5/10
