Movie Review : The Wedding Diary 结婚那件事

Watched this movie – The Wedding Diary 结婚那件事 at 1 Utama just yesterday night. It’s a Malaysia + Singapore joint production featuring Hong Kong artiste – Elanne Kwong 江若琳 & Kara Hui 惠英红 & local artiste Aniu 阿牛-陈庆祥.

To me, both Elanne Kwong 江若琳 & Kara Hui 惠英红 really made this movie enjoyable for me. One is pretty & talented where the other has really great acting. It’s pretty awesome to have both of them in this local production.

Anyway, in this comedy romance film, Elanne Kwong 江若琳 & Aniu 阿牛-陈庆祥 is a couple who got together not long and they stepped into marriage life, just like the movie title which talks about a series of happenings before, during & after a wedding. The whole movie shift on & off from a narrative manner through the eyes of 蔡伟杰 (Aniu 阿牛-陈庆祥) to the story itself with the other characters.

Basically, it touches the topic of a wedding and the marriage that comes after that where a lot of details need to be in consideration as it’s not about of 2 person, but about 2 parties who used to be strangers getting together becoming a big family. Financial issues is the biggest problem in this case where Wei Jie 蔡伟杰 (Aniu 阿牛-陈庆祥) comes from a low class family background in Penang, Malaysia & Zhi Xin 芷欣 ( Elanne Kwong 江若琳) comes from a rich reputable family from Singapore.

A series of unfortunate events happened to Wei Jie 蔡伟杰 as a result to the wedding which costs all his savings and things got worse from there. Overall, this movie is a good local comedy romance film where I think I really like the touching plot. It’s suitable for couples who are planning to get married, already married or those who failed in their past relationship as well.

A few relationship issues was highlighted in the movie itself and the most important thing is trust.

Nothing really fancy about the surroundings featuring places in Singapore & Malaysia. In fact, I thought that the background are quite plain, however the movie did touched me a few times especially towards the end when a tragedy happened. The other casts which consist a majority of Singaporean actors were good in this movie as well so expect an enjoyable show if you decide to go for this.

One nice movie to watch and it’s worth going for. Valentine’s Day is just around the corner so if you’re looking for a movie to watch with your partner, this is the one. =)
