Introduced to the world as a concept car back in 2009 as Toyota FT-86, it has been confirmed just recently that this model will be in production where the model will be made available in UK in June 2012 as Toyota GT-86.

Call me a slow poke as i didn’t notice local top website paultan.org talking about it here, here & here, but thanks to some videos posted by friends on Facebook, I got to know about this little brother of AE-86, the most famous drift-car

The lack of interest of younger buyers was the driving force behind Toyota’s new 86 coupe, which the company hopes will add a bit of excitement to a company known for dull but dependable cars.
On a Toyota stand plastered with banners saying “reborn”, Toyoda said the company had to return to cars that were “fun to drive”. Toyota adopted the catchphrase “fun to drive” in the 1980s, but the discontinuation of sports cars such as the Supra, Celica and MR2 has seen the brand lose its lustre in recent years.
