I don’t know if you smartphone users notice this but Air Asia have launched their mobile app for both Apple iPhone and Blackberry devices and it is available for download already.

I’ve just downloaded the app from iTunes store on my iPhone 3GS which is just at 0.4 MB at the moment. The app was released on iTunes on the 20th of November and was tested with iOS 4.0.

According to the information on the app page on iTunes, the application have 4 main function at the moment with possible future enhancement on it.
* Book a Flight – Book and pay for your flights via mobile
* My Bookings – View your current bookings
* Mobile Checkin – Avoid the queues, check-in via mobile
* Flight Info – View flight times

I have slightly play around with the app and it is very similar to the mobile web version. It’s user friendly and i’ve tested the first 2 things out of the 4 main features displayed above.

Am using Maxis 3G and the respond time doing the tests is within 5-20 seconds for each different task, i think it’s quite good.
Eg :
Search for flights : 8 seconds (average time base on 2 tests on 2 different flight search)
Logging in : 14 seconds (average time base on 3 tests)
Checking my current bookings : 10 seconds (average time base on 2 tests for 2 different confirmed bookings)

Works fine for me so far.

Have no idea on how is it on Blackberry though since i don’t use it.
