Does this means that Proton Inspira is better than Mitsubishi Lancer??
At a special media briefing held at Proton’s Centre of Excellence recently, Inspira’s project manager Zulkifli Bidin clarified several matters.
He said the Waja’s replacement model originally started out as a joint development project between Proton and Mitsubishi Motors Corp three years ago.
After convincing Mitsubishi that Proton could improve on Lancer’s driving performance, Mitsubishi gave the green light to the suspension tweaking.
Among the improvements were revised suspension rating and bushings for a more comfortable ride and the incorporation of thicker anti-roll bars for better cornering stability.

Here’s the official price list for the new Proton Inspira (Proton Waja [Lancer] replacement unit) :
Proton Inspira 1.8 M/T – RM78,999
Proton Inspira 1.8 CVT – RM84,999
Proton Inspira 2.0 CVT – RM91,999
For the past few months, i’ve been looking to buy a car for myself and with my current situation, i can only look at second hand Saga BLM. Yes not even the new ones but just second hand as i don’t have the budget.
Anyways, just hours ago i came across this article on the replacement unit for Proton Waja with the name Proton Inspira. This model have been rumored for quite some time already where it looks 99% the same with Mitsubishi Lancer and well, there’s a brochure on the new unit already.
Okay, apparently it’s a leaked brochure that is.
I don’t know how inspirational will you feel but well the features from the brochure are :
-Bold and aggressive styling
-Trunk Remote Control
-Paddle Shift Peformance
-Fully Automatic Climate Control
-5-star Safety Rating
-2 Years Free Servicing
and the starting price for the new Proton Inspira is from RM79,XXX.
To be exact it will be below RM80,000 for 1.8 and below RM95,000 for 2.0.
Proton Inspira 1.8 is available for both Manual and Automatic transmission where Proton Inspira 2.0 is only available for Automatic transmission.
Interesting much and oh from the brochure, it states that you can start booking for the new model from tomorrow onwards with RM1000 down payment where the official launch of this new model Proton Inspira will be in November 2010.
I don’t know how is 5 star safety rating like but i’m pretty sure the quality won’t be as good as the ones being exported overseas. Talking about treating foreigners better than their own countrymen. Pfft.

own a 2004 iswara (my 3rd proton), 2 weeks after leaving showroom realised fumes coming in.. sent to mutiara service centre n was told by the ” experienced” service staff that they cant find solve the problem.. while handing keys back to me.. lady behind the desk said ” what do you expect from a car that price??? “.. i used to support proton… but not anymore..

hey2, cmon guys. no need to get racism involved. the fact of the matter is that inspira is copying evo and they intend to do it. it has nothing to do with creativity. it was intented to look like an evo. i doubt it will feel like an evo but for a car that’s less than 100K with a kickass look, i’d say proton did good.
you guys give a lot of crap to proton and i’m not siding with proton here. but just use your brain for a second and think about the process of creating an entirely new car from scratch. easier said than done.

Just take a look at Toyota Vios, Honda City, and Ford Fiesta. Are these designed copied from somewhere else? They cost less than 90K, and at lower specs, they cost below 80K.

Thailand benefited in terms of technology expertise, job oppurtunities,business for the car spare part suppliers.In trying to protect ailing PROTON ,the whole automotive sector was screwed up.In conclusion, the idea of National car is a failure !

Maintainance nya tinggi.Contohnya Perdana yang mana Gear box selalu rosak.Power window ,air con selalu rosak.Proton holdings hanya mementingkan untung saja. Keluaran Proton yang paling teruk ialah Tiara dan Juara.Both are junks.Rakyat sebenarnya dipaksa membeli produk yang tiada kualiti.Kilang ini wujud untuk menguntungkan segelintir orang .Rakyat yang beri subsidi pada kilang ini yang hampir bangkrap.Sepatutnya kilang ni ditutup atau dijualkan sahaja kepada Perodua ,yang mana kualitinya adalah baik.Sekarang rakyat dibebankan pula dengan kadar faedah yang tinggi untuk kereta nasional.Kerajaan tidak prihatin terhadap penderitaan rakyat. I don’t know why you people complain so much. What’s wrong with rebadging? Perodua is 100% rebadge Daihtasu/Toyota. Nobody’s complaining???
Furthermore, the Inspira is not 100% rebadge….much work has been done to the ride and handling (frankly, Proton’s R&H is better than Toyota, Honda, KIA, etc and among the best in class!) and it is customized for a sedan comfort ride rather than Lancer which is customized for sports.
Those who haven’t try the Inspira, go test drive it…it is way better than Forte 1.6SX (same price as Inspira 1.8) and all the overpriced japanese junk cars like VIOS or Honda City. Perodua no need to say…all rubbish Japanese junk kei-cars which handles like a sampan and feels like riding on paper when driving on highway.
Proton’s main problem is QC and SC….QC can’t do much due to cutting cost and giving contract to UMNO cronies….SC is still hopeless, due to mentality don’t change. But Proton design team has done very good works here and in other Proton cars. That’s why the VW deals didn’t falls through previously…if VW takes management control…all the UMNO crony supplier can tarpau.
So make the right choice next GE…..vote out UMNO and kill all their crony suppliers!!!!
2 years ago my uncle bought a PROTON SAVVY green metalic. Today the car paint looks like it was bought 15 years ago!! The paint is pricking out like sand, habis jadi kurap!!! The roof, the boot and bonet, the right side and the right doors all suffering with this defect accept the left side! And i noticed that they paint it so thin that i can see the metal part already.
