Hello JoshuaOng,
We will ask that you put a public apology on your site with regards to KL Monorail using illegal software. If you look properly the windows is not illegal but not activated. If you fail to put a significant public apology on the main page of your website, we will send our lawyers after you.

Mr. Khoo,
All I see what Joshua blog abou is questioning the genuine of the Window
“KL Monorail using illegal Microsoft Windows huh?”
Since you know is original, and thanks for answering him saying it is original.
I did no see anything wrong here.
Not everyone knows what’s that window error mean.
At least Joshua did not directly accuse Monorail is using a pirated software.
If Monorail want to avoid the passengers confused or see such error pop out, why not ask their support engineer, or whoever they ask to support their system, check their system frequently to avoid such thing happen?
I don’t see Joshua need to do any apology post, as he just questioning what he saw and experience.
And welcome to the blog world where we can bullshit all the time

In regards to this serious comment over here. If you’re looking at black and white, there is no statement that says KL Monorail using illegal software. Sentences play a big part in it. Welcome to the world of Internet

Even Microsoft says “You’re might be a Victim of Software Counterfeiting”, looking closely, I see that it’s a hardware changed that needed the activation key again but hey, shouldn’t the IT department or IT outsourcing company appointed by KL Monorail fix the activation after installing new hardware, you can’ blame the public to misunderstood the message, not many are Windows expert.

Huh… Like that also kena threatened with a lawsuit?
It’s a bit absurd, don’t you think?
It’s not like Joshua is the head of some politic party or any influential big shots. He’s just an average blogger sharing his thoughts of the day with his friends (readers).
So if I reviewed a restaurant in my blog, and people who dine there after reading my posts get diarrhea, I will be sued?
And if I jokingly said I’ve a plan to kill the PM by end of this year, I have to go to jail?
I dare not blog edi lor… Too dangerous.

Hi Khoo of Xirien Sdn Bhd,
Good day to you. First and foremost, what is your affiliation with Monorail? Are you from Monorail or your company maintains this chain of computers for Monoroail?
I bet if you are speaking on their behalf, this is not the channel for you to go through demanding such.
Ok now back to the “accusation” – all i can see are –> “KL Monorail using illegal Microsoft Windows huh?” – now unless my English comprehension is of a 4 year old, i would not call that an accusation nor a statement at all, its a question of whether that particular computer is of legal cop or not.
Now if you are the company that maintains the chain of computer for Monorail, you have a bunch of imcompetent team. Things like this should have been tested and make sure each and every computer are properly activated before being put out.
With that message there, yes there is the chance of the cmputer is not activated, but also the fair chance of it being installed with a non genuine copy of Windows, or installed with a genuine copy but is from a different computer.
Well – if you need help, whereby your imcompetent team cannot help in identifying its a Genuine copy or not. Go here http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/ and intall the validating tool.
And if they are still not being able to solve or identify this issue, feel free to contact me. I used to be a support engineer for Microsoft products.
Till then, stop the bullshit and demand public appologies from the comment section.
Regards
Earl Ku

Wow, Khoo. That’s a brilliant way of managing a complaint/comment from a member of the public who regularly uses the KL Monorail services, regardless of its punctuality/efficiency. Is “Threaten with sending lawyers” Step 1 in the Guidebook? I didnt think twice when I read this post as I had no idea what Joshua was talking about and totally ignored it. But now that you decided to bring more attention to it, was the software really illegal? Or just a technical glitch that he managed to capture and pose a question (it wasnt even an accusation)? Its so convenient to jump the gun and threaten with lawsuits these days, isnt it?
On that note, will the thousands of people who complain about KL Monorail everyday be waiting for a visit from you and the lawyers?
Hello Khoo Han Wei,
Correct me if I’m wrong. This is by no means an accusation, lest your company of 1-to-10 people decides to send multiple lawyers after me.
Based on your interview on BFM, you claimed to have invented the ZigBee Advanced Meter infrastructure, and that you are using the exact system with a different application for your client, KL Monorail.
http://www.bfm.my/Cradle-Series-Khoo-Han-Wei-Xirien-Technologies.html
According to ZigBee Alliance, membership in the ZigBee Alliance is required for any use of ZigBee intellectual property for commercial gain.
http://www.zigbee.org/Join/MembershipFAQ/tabid/242/Default.aspx
And of course, the entry level membership in the said alliance is called Adopter.
But looking at the list of members, I don’t see Xirien Technologies, or your other company Forwen Sdn Bhd.
http://www.zigbee.org/About/OurMembers/tabid/191/Default.aspx
I could be wrong. Maybe the ZigBee Alliance has not updated their website. Or should we inform them and Business Software Alliance just to be safe?

Dear Mr. Khoo,
I am not going to pick on which side I should be
But this is not the first time I see this windows error popping out
Just weeks ago I was on the train and I saw it
I even saw a blue screen once
Really, I didn’t even bother to make a fuss
Why don’t you take the time to fix the problem first
Rather than going to people’s blog and saying you want to send lawyers
I don’t see any “Rakyat didahulukan, Pencapaian diutamakan”
What happen’s if tourist use our KL Monorail and they see the error
I for sure would not be happy
Joshua as a blogger has rights to voice out his thoughts and he only questioned on the Window if it is genuine
I don’t see any harm done
Its your own mistake you have to live with it
Cheers,
Azrin

Ok. My 2cents… not worth much nowadays.
by stating that “KL Monorail using illegal Microsoft Windows huh?” you’ve already pointed the finger at KL Monorail. So accusation is already there. Now you have pictorial proof of a misdeed, but no actual paper trail to show that KL Monorail is at fault.
So, you put yourself in a position of making slanderous and defamating statements. 100% sure got grounds to sue. They can win or not depends on the lawyer.
Best course, don’t take off the picture. Put a statement to clarify what you meant, Basically a few words to the effect that
1. You were not stating that KL Monorail the company is actually using priated software.
2. This picture was taken at which ever Monorail station at whatever time and day. makes sure you put approximate time and day.
3. There is hope that the person or person’s maintaining said system will buckup and do their job.
There if you did this I don’t think they can sue you; and in the meantime send the information to BSA & Microsoft. BSA can be found at http://www.BSA.com.my
I’m not a lawyer, and any lawyer want to correct me is welcomed to.
Constructive critism is always welcomed.
As they say, “Don’t tell me I got it wrong; Show me how to do it right or better.”
ur 2 cents really worth a lot i guess.
Yeah they can sue and all.
But again there some question also
What if
i say WHAT IF
when joshua see that error message that time, they might really don’t have “ACTIVATION” key yet?
which mean that time it might not genuine, till later when a lot of people complain, only the company go and purchase the activation/license key to activate the window?
And since Monorail complain to this company, the might wanna cover up and accuse Joshua saying is incorrect?
I did not say waht i wrote above is true, but there got such posible.
So what’s wrong that public think the software is illegal that time?
Base on the pop up error it can be true that the software is illegal!!!!

To all fairness to KL Monorail, Joshua comments did point squarely as an accusation…. ha ha.. plus those people who further commented made it seem like it was a confirmed case of piracy. Plus the fact that, just my 3 cents.. haha… its quite obvious the IT personnel did not activate the machine and its definitely not a case of piracy, thus spinning it around and making it sound like piracy is case for a libel suit.
In Malaysia gotta be careful… libel and defamation by people in power can seriously hurt you. See this site http://mavrkylawofdefamation.blogspot.com/2007_02_21_archive.html
Anyway, lets not argue about this petty stuff and talk about more serious Malaysian misleads… like how they try sell us cheap RON95 petrol priced at RON97 (whose price has balooned) n still make themselves sound like they have not raised the price at petrol at all

swt… everyone in here are all in the wrong line. you guys should just go practice law. it doesn’t take that many years truth to be told. better than discussing it here, like some sort of debate only.
or maybe we should wait until there’s an actual lawyer present then only comment again.
just my RM50. wtf. =.=”
got 2 and 3 cents liao. the next person better not put 5 cents. play small money no fun.

Boss Khoo kinda misshandling this matter…
This can be solve by emailing Joshua and approach him in a polite way.
Please respect the blogger when he did not aware what he did.
To be fair, base on the pop up error, most people going to think the same that the window might not genuine.
How many people in the public that using Monorail are IT literate?
Even those that IT literate also doubting is the window complete genuine or not (base on what I explained earlier, which there posible that the software at first is not genuine, till the company buy that license in later time to activate it)
If Khoo email Joshua privately and ask in polite matter, i guess this post is already long gone, and Joshua might even apologise in a proper maner too.
But this “Boss” here come in giving such threatening comment…
As a normal person with some pride, I simply can’t take it.
Especially the wrong is not with Joshua, but the company that mishandling that let him caught this error to lead him to think other wise.
If Joshua going to apologize, I think Khoo owe Joshua an apology too by threatening him in such way =/

this is utterly insane. the display there is for thousands to see. you cant be morally correct to sue people for their opinions! hell, if i saw that myself in that station ON YOUR OWN DISPLAY BOARD, of coz i will be inclined to conclude that kl monorail is using bogus windows. so will you sue me also for coming to that opinion??
mr khoo of xiren, if you want to be all civilized and PR-correct, instead of “ooh…i’m sending my lawyers after you”… why not clarify the matter here “oooh, there’s some fault in our systems and we are in the midst of fixing the error. in the meantime, we would appreciate it if you could remove the photos as it clearly shows our incompetency”…..
Dear all,
To clarify this matter, the pop up was caused when the machine in question had a faulty motherboard which was changed. However the OS was not reinstalled and Windows did not recognize the new boards id thus requesting to reactivate. An oversight by our engineers resulted in us not being aware of the problem. It has however been rectified. The system was also under testing as can be seen obviously from the announcement in the right pane.
Pertaining to this issue, it is obvious that reactivation was required “Because of a hardware and driver change” as can be seen in the image. As Joshua the writer is a degree graduate in the IT field, he should have been aware of this. Implying instead that it is an illegal copy of windows with the statement “KL Monorail using illegal Microsoft Windows huh?” in addition to derogatory comments that followed without moderation by the writer is case for libel.
This is however a minor issue and we hope that this can be solved amicably without the need for stirring more trouble. Time and money is not worth the matter at hand.
Thank you,
Khoo
Things can be simplified by a reminder or notice about the error in the information, instead of threatening using lawsuit.
Besides, since it’s the company’s responsibility to maintain the system, such error shouldn’t happen at any rate (not even under testing!). Sure, humans do made errors, but c’mon, the system is placed in public area and to have that error came up, people would be doubtful with the company’s professionalism.
Talk about professionalism, the phrase “…we will send our lawyers after you.” irks most of us here. Somehow there’s kind of image of “kiasuness”. If you wanna be real professional, go look up how the top companies deal with criticism.
And, critic with your full name instead by just your surname.
Remember, either you take this as a bitter argument with the blogger Joshua, or as a lesson to improve the quality of your company’s service.
One thing, poke a blogger, and be prepared to be dragged down the Google ladder. Bloggers can work together to wreck havoc.
Bloggers United FTW!!
Hi Khoo,
Basically, we’re not making an issue about the genuineness of the Windows and etc, that has long been talked about. The issue is how you decided to bring up the topic. Shooting a comment with a threat like that isn’t really going to help you nor your company’s image.
I’m sure that you should know blogs are readable, even if by a mere count of 5 people and if there is such a comment noticed by at least one of them, there is definitely going to be a forwarded link to all other contacts to check it out.
You said that you don’t want to stir up trouble, well, how about that? You already did. You know, a simple explanation from your side would have sufficed, Joshua would have removed the statement and everything would have been fine but to shoot him with a threat to send lawyers after him in public?
I don’t know about you, but I don’t sense any professionalism here. If you had wanted to tell him that, ask Joshua for his email and talk to him privately but from the way most of us see it, just a simple request to remove the statement would have been enough already.

All Mr almighty Khoo is trying to say is bla bla bla… I’m Mr Khoo, the rich and famous almighty young CEO of a very small and extremely new company and I’m proud to be representing the monorail.
Be careful Mr. Khoo, the monorail will definitely appreciate their customers, us, than you. Speaking about money, Mr. Khoo, you are making them lose money whereas we are giving them money.
So you better be the one to be more careful with your words. It is a personal blog and according to the Constitution of Malaysia, Article 10 (1) guarantees the freedom of speech, the right to assemble peacefully and the right to form associations to every Malaysian citizen.
You should be HUMBLE & APOLOGIZE for making this such a big issue by bringing in lawyers and what nots! There are plenty of pro bono lawyers making sure you and your small new company deserve the light of day.
p/s: This should be Mr. Khoo’s website. http://www.xirien.com/index.php?option=com_contact&Itemid=3. Feel free to stay away from ZIGBEE WIRELESS. These people are the reason Malaysians don’t speak up anymore.

i see no fault in Joshua’s question. You can bring this up to court, I think the judge and jury will laugh.
it’s just a question, mind you. Why wanna make it such a big fuss. He asked a question, you answered enough d lor. The public will read comments wan ma. Why not ask him to add your explaination on his post instead of doing a public apology, which i think is stupid cause he did no wrong.
Plus, if you wanna sue, why not get KL Monorail to do it instead.
