Since Nuffnang took over the blogosphere creating one of the largest blogger community on the internet, successfully organizing a pajama’s party celebrating Nuffnang’s first birthday in Malaysia, I was actually expecting another Nuffnang Birthday Bash Party this year itself that was rumored if some of you heard about it before.

It was suppose to happen early this year somewhere in March in Singapore and the planned was delayed and for all i know, the plan was either threw aside or it was transformed into this very event.

Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards. An event on a much larger scale.

Ever since the news about #nnawards broke out, there’s quite a number of opinions/thoughts exchanged which caused several debates under the table. Not widely blog about of course but the discussions/debates did happened in YumCha sessions, Msn Chatrooms and etc.

#01 Asia Pacific
The Asia-Pacific region generally includes:
Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Fiji, Indonesia, Japan, Kiribati, North Korea, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, New Zealand, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Samoa, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Vietnam,
United States Territories:
-American Samoa
-Guam
-Northern Mariana Islands

THAT ALONE is one helluva list of countries and i’m pretty sure that the list of blogs from the region would sum up to millions. Seriously i don’t know how can they differentiate that which blogs nominated were in that region or not.

Anyhow, a fast glance at the shortlisted list, i only see blogs from 3 main countries. Malaysia, Singapore & Australia. So well… =X

#02 How?
Nuffnang.com is putting the power in your hands to tell us who deserves to be nominated for these 12 categories.

So now the nomination have closed and the shortlisted blogs were announced. People started questioning how the blogs were chosen & even shortlisted.

The panel of judges have scored the nominees on the following criteria:

1. Presentation (10%) – Overall appeal, neatness, user-friendliness of the blog
2. Content (20%) – Readability, images and expression of the content
3. Relevance to Category (20%) – Professionalism and usefulness of information

Really according to the 3 points stated above?

IMHO, i think that some blogs should be there but they weren’t and here are 3 of them.
Dannychoo.com
This blog should be in Best Geek/Most Influential Blog. He is one blogger who got lots of first hand information and exclusives on anime/toys/figures where his blog includes lots of geeks related stuffs and he’s pretty influential among the geeks on the internet.
Cheeserland.com
This blog should be in Best Entertainment/Best Travel blog. She writes lots of advertorials but never fail to make them entertaining, in her own way that is and she have been to quite a lot of places from what i know providing some fun facts sharing her stories during her traveling times.
KarenCheng.com.au
This blog should be in Best Fashion/Best Parenting Blog/Most Influential Blog. She is one blogger who writes a lot about parenting & fashion, in fact, one of the earliest blogger i heard of. Earlier than the likes of Xiaxue and Kennysia for me personally and all i know, i have lots of female blogger friends who secretly stalked her. Talking about influential, some of these female friends even started blogging because of her.

Here are only 3 examples and i’m sure many of you out there have more blogs in your head that is more than qualified to be in the list. Much more.

and do you know that there’s like millions of blogs from Taiwan, China & Japan and none of them appeared in the list. Maybe the public didn’t bother much to nominate these blogs  or don’t even know about them. OR maybe these bloggers rejected to be shortlisted HA!

Okay, Happy or not, whether you like it, the shortlisted blogs have been announced and you just have that few blogs to support and vote, so how now?

#03 Winners?
Everyone is allow to vote and voting can be made multiple times with a 2 hours time span in between but we don’t know how are they tracking the votes. Hmm.

For your information, i’ve just voted on firefox and i can vote IMMEDIATELY AGAIN using google chrome. Of course, i don’t know that whether the counts will be updated to their database or not when i do so since they didn’t display the vote counts for each blog but hey, if vote counts aren’t display, that means there’s a possibility that they can set the numbers right?

I don’t mean that Nuffnang will do so la, just stating what i see.

Well, from the start when the nomination were in process resulting in this shortlisted results, I’m in no position to question whether the judges are qualified or should be there or not.

and at the end of the day, i’m just a nobody posting crap on this very little blog of mine.

There will definitely be more tweets like this and blog post like this but hey who cares? So well, lets all grab some pop corn, sit down and enjoy the show.

Its a sponsored project/awards/event, if you are on the same wave length as me. Why so serious?

May The Best Win!
